I keep people saying this. Trump still has the support of around 80% of Republican voters. That is not a sign it will be the kiss of death if they support him openly.

What will matter is if Trump's support for candidates or his attacking them does not seem mater to voters. His support for Strange in Alabama was not enough to win the primary so far. If Strange loses it may embolden some Republicans in Congress.

What will be more revealing is if Trump can propel Ward to victory over Flake in Arizona. Flake has been very critical of Trump and Trump has publicly attacked him. I also suspect that is why Trump is going to Arizona to hold a rally. I would be very surprised if Ward is not on stage and Trump does not start trashing Flake.

Politically it is a risk for Trump. If Republicans start seeing they do not need to worry about supporting him to get reelected they will be more willing to speak out against him openly. I also imagine Trump's ego will take a huge hit and he will lash out in some way if his support does not result in winning a election.

 

I'm also wondering if Kelli Ward will be on stage next week when Trump is in Arizona. I would suspect the answer is yes. I also suspect Trump will attack Flake, calling him "Flake Jeff Flake" and other dumb things.
