Multiple European security officials told Insider that President Donald Trump appeared to have tacit support among US federal agencies responsible for securing the Capitol complex in Wednesday's coup attempt. Insider is reporting this information because it illustrates the serious repercussions of Wednesday's events: Even if they are mistaken, some among America's international military allies are now willing to give credence to the idea that Trump deliberately tried to violently overturn an election and had help from some federal law-enforcement agents. "We train alongside the US federal law enforcement to handle these very matters, and it's obvious that large parts of any successful plan were just ignored," one source told us. US allies say Trump attempted coup with help from federal law enforcement - Business Insider https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-attempted-coup-federal-law-enforcement-capitol-police-2021-1 ...... I'm surprised I haven't seen this posted yet. What will come of this? I just don't know.
This is not surprising. The breech could not have happened the way it did (people actually getting inside offices and damaging property) without some sort of inside help. That much is clear. Now, the trick is finding out who did what, when and where. I think Pelosi was right to demand the resignation of the Capitol Chief of Police. He or somebody or several somebodies were complicit in this.
I'm one who feels trump definitely had a hand in the lack of security. Also factor in the percentage of Capitol police who might have been trumpers.
I think the cops realized they were going to get hurt or killed if they kept trying to hold back the sedition squad. As we saw some did. Seems like they realized their best course was to stand down until they had more help. question is why the hell the help wasn’t already there
Sheer numbers. I think the cops kept getting pushed back by the mob, until they finally stopped pushing back
If police leaders are supporting tRumpist activity...then no amount of police reform will make any difference. Here is the head of the Chicago Police Union..... "Catanzara is a vocal supporter of the president. He has a Trump flag on his desk, along with a framed picture of a presidential tweet praising him, and has even attended Trump rallies. But, he was disciplined by the Chicago Police Department for posting a photo to social media praising the president’s message while in uniform. While the collective masses of Trump supporters are getting labeled with all kinds of names, Catanzara sympathized with them." https://humanevents.com/2021/01/08/...-with-maga-marchers-blasts-comparison-to-blm/
I have to agree, I think Trump or his minions played a part in the lax security it may have been just that some on the inside thought too much security would make Trump look bad, I sure hope it was not more nefarious
That does seem to be what happened....too bad those congressmen who were every bit as responsible as tRump for encouraging his brainwashed supporters...get to walk away as if they are squeaky clean... like Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz and the nutcase from Wisconsin...Ron Johnson
~ I assume you did not read the link . ▶ From 2012 : "Not only should we not eliminate the word 'lunatic' from federal law when the most pressing issue of the day is saving our country from bankruptcy - we should use the word to describe the people who want to continue with business as usual in Washington." said Rep Louie Gohmert in a statement.
The Capitol police force work for and protect the congress and their families not the president. Their jurisdiction extends throughout the USA.
Wonder what the WH was doing for the 2 hours while people were ransacking the Capitol. It's almost as if they wanted that to happen and perhaps have the terrorists take lawmakers hostage or maybe execute them. The National Guard didn't arrive until after the Governor of Maryland spoke to the Secretary of Army because he needed authorization. This was all outside the chain of command by the way.
What coup are you discussing? Where Trump was hauled into the Senate to revoke him being president? Fortunately that pig did not fly.
No he didn't. He lied on national TV saying he did. He was watching on TV for 2 hours while the Capitol was getting ransacked.
Trump refused to call the NG. He lied claiming that he did but it was Pence that called them. Pence took lead as Trump initially resisted sending National Guard to Capitol https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/06/politics/pence-national-guard/index.html
No. This episode grew out of incompetence, not a conspiracy. No one watches the Capitol Police closely. No wonder they failed. Opinion by Rosa Brooks
If you're saying that they let this happen that is utterly ludicrous. The only way the agencies at the time could have stopped this was to open fire on the crowd which they decided not to do and it was the right decision. The rioters had their day and can now be tracked down and arrested one by one.
