    Donald Trump has been indicted by a New York City grand jury on charges of falsifying business records stemming from payments he made to adult film star Stormy Daniels to prevent her from revealing an affair he had with her before the 2016 election.

    A source told The Independent that grand jurors voted to indict the ex-president on Thursday, and that indictment is currently under seal. It will be unveiled at some point in the near future by District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

    I predict

    1. He will eventually be found guilty,

    2. There will be more indictments to come,

    3. There will be a lot of angry threats from his supporters and some minor criminal acts in response, but nothing too significant.

    I’ll say, innocent until proven guilty. This prosecution definitely has some hurdles. I’m sure he’ll be eager to clear his name in court and take the stand and say under oath he never slept with her.

    NY grand jury indicts Trump in hush money payment case

    A New York grand jury voted Thursday to indict former President Donald Trump in connection with a $130,000 hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election, his lawyer told CNBC.

    Trump is the first former president to be charged with a crime.

    The historic indictment stems from the Manhattan District Attorney’s investigation into how the Trump Organization recorded a reimbursement to Trump’s then-lawyer Michael Cohen after Cohen paid Daniels to keep her quiet about an alleged sexual encounter she says she had with Trump in 2006.

    Trump was filming his TV show, “Celebrity Apprentice,” at the time of that purported tryst, and was married to his current wife, Melania Trump, who had given birth to their son, Barron, a few months earlier.

    Is the purpose of the law to get people you think aren't nice?

    This DA is reported to have lowered almost half of the felon charges in his office, serious felonies, to misdemeanors. He is straining were to elevate a misdemeanor to a felony because it is Donald Trump, that guy you want something bad to happen to. Why the disparate treatment?

    The statue of limitations had run out on that felony. We have such statute of limitations for a purpose in our system of justice. Is this equal application of the law? Equal process?

    To elevate to a felony he has to charge him with a another stage crime. What crime is that? You say it was a campaign violation. Ahh that is federal jurisdiction, how can he charge him with federal crime? A crime the DOJ investigate and found no crime to charge.

    Bragg ran on the pledge he would use his office to go after a political figure he opposes. He didn't know what the charge would debut by gosh he would us the power of the office to go private citizen and find something ANYTHING he could bring some charge.

    Is this how our system of justice, our system of politics should work?

    Trump's support will increase.

    He is right in a way. Two-bit crooks wind up becoming national leaders in third world countries, and sadly the USA managed that feat as well. Good thing our system held up and we were able to correct that, though.
