    Deep State? Muahahahaha!

The only deep state is the deep state of denial you're in when it comes to how big a mistake the Trump presidency will be remembered as.

There is no such thing as the Deep State. It's the paranoid fantasy of the fearful and unsophisticated.

It has had several different, names and interations over the years, but it's always the same.

A secret cabal of plutocrats that rule the world, unseen, all knowing, and all powerful, against whom the little guys is powerless. This absolves the little man from bothering to understand the world around them, and encourages them to invest their attention on bread and circuses and clown acts like Trump.

Evidence of what? That they had a business project in Moscow that they chose not to pursue? Just like in the Manafort case(IRS). Mueller's charge is usurping the role of the plantiff(this time Congress) who should actually levy the charge.

I'd really appreciate it if Mueller could build a collusion case, but it's readily apparent that he can't. The case that he can build, lying is certainly unethical. And if impeached for that, it wouldn't be surprising but I don't think productive. The 'investigation' has been a waste of our time, money and effort.

What it has done, is its undermined American institutions, and its given Putin a key victory, even according to the words of Comey who said the purpose of their interference was to sow doubt and divide Americans. Mission accomplished. You are key Putin allies.

If you think Congress should be the ones that "levy the charges", then you understand that we have a process for that. It's called impeachment.

    As for this:

"What it has done, is its undermined American institutions, and its given Putin a key victory, even according to the words of Comey who said the purpose of their interference was to sow doubt and divide Americans. Mission accomplished. "

That was Putin's objective. They started the campaign around 2013. You started seeing it on right wing media, and you started seeing right wingers passing Russian propogandas sites around. Sites that echoed the more paranoid rantings of the already rabid right wing trash blogosphere.

They weren't thinking about Trump that way, back then. He was just a useful idiot that they laundered money through.

Trump turned out to be the icing on the cake. They cheered in the Duma the day he was elected.

As for the Russian campaign, it's alive and well. Trump went out of his way to avoid taking any meaningful action to stop it. The Republcian congress bent over backwards not to investigate it. And right wingers on this very forum are still quoting Russian propaganda sites as primary sources.

As an example, Congress was cited as a plantiff in the Steroid Saga, where Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, etc lied under oath about the use of performance-enhancing drugs. The government can in fact act as a plantiff in a suit/charge that it brings.

The reason Mueller brought this charge, is quite simple: It's the charge that was actually there to bring.(IE: No collusion.)

Mueller instead is going to direct us to the various economic efforts that Trump JR/Cohen/Felix had done with the Russians(or attempted to do, as the case would be.) and note that while it's not a crime, here's the various connections that have been talked about.

Now, it's up to you as a citizen: As you note, there are Trumpers. As I've noted to no avail I'm not one of them, but there are millions who are. And unlike Nixon, there doesn't exist a Ford to salvage this situation. Think politically, is this worth it for a man you will most surely defeat in 2020?

Independents will not vote for Trump after the Mueller report. It'll be a reverse Mondale, if he isn't defeated in 2020 Republican primaries.(I have my money on Sasse.)

The Nation is more important than Donald Trump, on this we agree. So I beseech you: Let the lame duck be a lame duck until 2020, and welcome in the new POTUS.

The crime was the hacking and distribution of DNC emails, and the hacking of state election databases. The question is who all was involved. We don't know. We do know, among other things, Don Jr was receptive to offers of Russian "dirt" on Clinton. At this point, it would be a fantastical coincidence if the Trump campaign (including Trump, who was actively pursuing a business deal in Russia) didn't know about the hack of the DNC emails.

'Knowledge' doesn't make him a conspirator though. It doesn't even make him a co-conspirator.(Which is why when Mueller/Rosenstein released the charges relating to the Russian hackers, they painstakingly made it clear that no American was charged in relation to said event.)

I think it's more then likely that this remains financial, and not necessarily political. What makes it political, is whether Congress is willing to act.

The interesting thing, is if Congress doesn't act(at least on paper), it could lead to disaffected Liberals and we could have a more centrist, less controversial GOP government for four more years.

You know, just maybe if so many people attached to Trump, including his own offspring, hadn't been so assdeep with the Russians over "business projects" as he was running for POTUS, and if our intelligence services hadn't unanimously concluded that the Russians interfered with our election, then Mueller's investigation never would have even happened.

There is no one to blame but Trump. Not Mueller. Not Comey. Not Clinton. TRUMP.

And Trump should be blamed for this....why exactly? It's the fault of our FBI/intelligence community for asserting Trump was compromised when they had no evidence of this, and STILL have no evidence that this is the case after a two year investigation.

Because of this, highlighting the 'business projects' doesn't make it justified, it just makes it look pathetic. Again, they can impeach him for lying if they want but that's a far cry from what was asserted(without evidence). It's incumbent upon the FBI to vet sources and methods to ensure accuracy, they failed to do this and dragged the image of the nation.

Not Trump, not Ivanka, not anybody. THEM. And they failed.

The reason I don't intend to let the lame duck be the lame duck is that right after you beseeched me to do that, you went right back to making excuses for him. And pretty lame ones at that.

And the charges relating to the Russian hackers have to do with their campaign activities, which may, or may not have been coordinated with or by the Trump campaign.

This appears increasingly likely, and increasingly likely that it will be fully exposed and documented.

Apparantly, you must be the only human being left on earth to figure out that Trump is compromised, and has been compromised even before he was a Presidential candidate. I have been telling you this for almost two years.

Trump was already compromised even before he ran. One of the reasons he has a manic fetish about hiding his tax returns, is that it will become apparent how dependant the Trump Organization and various Trump entities are on Russian financing, and how many Trump condos are owned by Russians money launderers.

Putin has punked Trump on the world stage almost from day one.

When a reporter in Helsinki asked if he had anything on Trump, Putin played coy. This was a stunning public affront to an American president, and it reflected how compromised Trump really is. The photo of Mohamad Bin Salman and Putin was a rebuke of Trump as well. They think the man is a complete fool.

I find it hard to believe that such a substantial operation was taking place and the IRS was unaware of it.

There is no evidence that Trump or anyone else was involved. And no one has even hinted that they have probable cause to believe anyone involved with Trump had any involvement.
So what? The DNC and the Hillary Campaign hired Steele to collect Russian dirt on Trump and no one has described this as a "Crime Against The United States".
We all knew that Podesta fell for a phishing scheme, and that his password was "password". He clicked on a link from a spam email that told him to enter his password and the idiot did.

That Trump had anything to do with this is a fantastical figment of your imagination. We don't turn prosecutors loose on folks without probable cause that a crime has been committed and that the person to be investigated likely committed it.

Fake News. Trump didn't remove Russian sanctions.

Press aims at Trump, hits own foot

Phil Ewing, "national security editor with NPR," had an exclusive on Friday. His headline was, "Trump Jr.'s 2017 Testimony Conflicts With Cohen's Account Of Russian Talks."

Matt Drudge linked it. There was plenty of hooting and hollering on press row. Mueller might not be able to get The Donald but they think Mueller could get The Junior.

But Ewing lied. Junior and Cohen were talking about two different things.

As for absolving the little man - in this case I think you mean trump voters - of responsibility you have it backwards

Trump voters are taking charge of their own destany by telling the elected and unelected washington establishment to pound sand

You are the one who is asleep at the wheel by allowing the Deep State to get away with its crimes

The IRS is certainly fully aware of the Trump Organization's tax returns. Trump tried to hide behind that too. Claiming he couldn't release his tax returns because he was being audited, even though there is no prohibition against releasing them even under audit. This was one of Trump's many, many lies.

Oh, and it's not the IRS that investigates and prosecutes money laundering.

You seem to be going out of your way to avoid either knowing or understanding anything about TRump's businesses. Suspicions that the Trump Organization has served as a condult for money laundering predate his Presidential candidacy for years.

It should be noted that in many cases, Trump was not a direct beneficiary of these activities, but collected his piece by managing properties owned by others (which is how most of the Trump Organization operaties) Few of the Trump signs on buildings in New York actually belong to Donald Trump.

    https://thinkprogress.org/https-thinkprogress-org-felix-sater-news-bad-for-trump-99e4ebe9a1ad/

This last one may be the most interesting, since it involves Felix Sater, the guy handling the Trump Tower Moscow deal.

For the past year and a half lickspittle Devin Nunes has worked hard to make sure that no questions relevant to these issues were asked in the Intelligence Committee. The Senate was little better. Instead of deliberately ignoring the obvious, or staging stunts to provide political cover for Trump, the Senate effort involves slow walking, which produced much the same effect, while avoiding the embarrassing episodes of obsequious toadyism that Nunes put on.

    Those days are gone.

Trump has telegraphed that he is hyper sensitive about anyone looking into his personal and business financing, even though both are fraught with well known irregularities (the Trump Foundation for one).He has had his mouthpieces (Guliani and Sekulow) make vague and ominous comments about "crossing a line" into Trumpian financial affairs.

Of course, this is where the fire is. Trump's long history of dealing with Russian gangsters is something he doesn't want discussed in public in detail. The Russians, of course, know all about it. You don't. And Trump doesn't want you to know. That's why Trump is compromised. The Russians have always had plenty on Trump.

We're going to begin to see what over the next few months. And I expect that TRumpsters will whine and scream about how unfairly their Clown Prince is being treated, loudly parrot the whataboutism and distortions served up by the right wing noise machine, try and ignore the growing body of evidence (as you have done in the past), or, (the old favorite!) try and deflect to Obama and Clinton.

No they aren't. Anyone who reads the Trumpian posts can see that. They are no more interested in responsibility than Donald Trump is. And Donald Trump has never take responsibility for anything in his entire life.

Singing the praises of a vulgar, corrupt incompetent clown who panders to fear and prejudice and peddles a fake fantasy of turning the clock back to an imaginary past is not taking charge.

Trump isn't taking charge in the government. He is making noise and breaking dishes. And the voters chose to neutralize him/

On the world stage, the Trump Adminstration has been largely pushed aside. As our allies work around the United States, our rivals strengthen their influence in the world.

Jingoism, trade wars, and isolationism are not winning strategies, even if they play well in the backward looking world Trump champions.

Trump is irrelevant on the world stage as a leader. Trump has been pushed aside, and is being ignored. He has squandered the bully pulpit.

He only got one piece of significant legislation passed in his first two years. There will be no others. The voters saw to that in November.

If the euros want to cripple their economy by rejecting fossel fues thats ok with me

That just leaves more for the rest of the world to consume

But now you are bragging that your side successfully obstructed the trump agenda which I have to concede is true

But if I got nothing the past two years neither did you

    Is that what you want?

Nothing unless its done your way?

Better check your link, they've posted a disclaimer.

And more fake news. Trump Jr. was talking about a different real estate deal. The reporter totally screwed up and NPR has had to back down on the story.

NPR Blatantly Lies About Donald Trump Jr.’s 2017 Senate Testimony
NOVEMBER 30, 2018 By Mollie Hemingway
NPR falsely claimed that Donald Trump Jr.’s testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee in September 2017 conflicted with an account given by a former attorney for President Donald Trump...

In fact, Senate investigators were asking Trump Jr. about a series of efforts to develop property in Russia, going back several years. Reporter Phil Ewing (reporter Tim Mak contributed to the story) conflates one of those efforts with another separate effort. That conflation results in the false news report...

No diversion. Just noting that sometimes journalists get it wrong and have to issue corrections, and that there is nothing inherently "progressive" about the news organizations that do, as I have proven with Fox News.
