Ford Foundation, etc.. Very common to have outside forces take over these charitable foundations and turn them into liberal propaganda machines. Even the Sierra Club.

 

Yep - Ford, MacArthur, Rockefeller - you know the story. It's ironic how the foundations set up by the titans of American industry have turned into "progressive" piggy banks.

And these tax exempt, massively wealthy Progressive operations can be found bankrolling all the divisive actions seeking to harm and divide the Nation. There is hardly a cause or radical movement that doesn't have their fingerprints on it.

Everyone knows the difference. Leftists simply added the word 'democratic' to the front of their descriptive.

I said the argument isn't as laughable as you might think. One of the key aspects of socialism is government/collective control of production, is it not? K-12 public education fits the definition.

A lot of our public schools are failing. No one disputes that and the fact that many parents are getting their kids out of those schools and into private schools. That's what this whole school voucher thing is about, and of course public officials and teachers unions are fighting it tooth and nail.

That being said, I'm not arguing that we should shut down our public school system, even if it is socialist.

 

My recommendation is to become more familiar with the Constitution if you're that interested.

You asked if the Constitution "mandates" all Citizens be educated. It doesn't. But it does say they have a right to it. Equally, the Constitution doesn't mandate that everyone be provided access to medical care, but it does say they have a right to seek it.

States adopted their own standards and methods for paying for education. It wasn't always property taxes. Health care is a different issue. How it's paid for is up to the citizens to decide.

Sorry for not replying. Yes, I believe that the public educational system is a 'socialist' type of offering. And I'm perfectly okay with that.

And when we fall short of that, I think Socialism begins to advance. And certainly 2016 with Bernie followed by 2018 with Cortez, we have seen a major advance of Socialism in this country.

Cortez is the most talked-about Democrat in the country, don't forget that the Democratic Socialists of America got two seats, not just one, Rashida Tlaib, opened the 116th Congress by saying, "Impeach the mother—." Then you have Ilhan Omar who is openly anti-Semitic, anti-Semitism long associated with Socialism.

Look at all that they have thrown at us in a very short period: Green New Deal, Medicare For All, Eliminating employer-based health insurance, Marginal tax rates of 90 percent, Required Federal Charter for Large Corporations, Confiscation of Private Wealth, Heavy inheritance taxes, "Free" college, Universal basic income and Abolish I.C.E.

Did the failure of our virtues that created the opening? Honesty, Fidelity, Diligence, Reticence, Delayed Gratification, and Self-Control giving way to Self-expression, Self-indulgence, Instant gratification, and Demanding the impossible, brought to the fore by the War in Iraq, Financial crisis, Post-crash job market, Student debt, Skyrocketing Home prices and NO ONE being held accountable for any of it.

And we are all engaged in a lot more yelling and finger-pointing than we are in ensuring that our fundamental virtues are being expressed by ourselves and taught to our young.

 

Mainly they think that if only they control Socialism, that this time it will work.

When you pay an army of bureaucrats $90,000 a year in pay and benefits, and all the administrators over them.

You have no idea how many poor cities in America have an economy that is virtually entirely reliant on outside money coming in to fund the schools, law enforcement and court systems.
