Trump lies to cover the original lie, the White House tapes

I said it weeks ago. Trump lied about the mythical tapes. Now Trump confirms that he lied. CNN says it best.

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump finally, grudgingly, had no choice but to come clean.

His admission, on Twitter Thursday that he did not secretly record his conversations with fired FBI Director James Comey -- after earlier raising the possibility that he did -- capped a six-week charade that damaged his presidency and cast doubt on his personal credibility.
It was a surreal new twist to a presidency that has often already stretched the limits of credulity, and has challenged conventions on the decorum and gravity expected in the behavior of the person who holds the office itself.

First, he denies knowing whether or not his White House is wiretapped. I guess he is too stupid to know the CIA and FBI have highly sophisticated tools to determine just that, and all he has to do is ask.

Or he is so stupid he thinks he will hoodwink Americans and the media again. The media made a circus of the issue, but Americans knew he was lying. He knows damn well the White House is not being surveilled. So, he lies within a lie. Trump can't help himself. It is in his DNA.

It took Trump over 40 days to admit the obvious.

The stupid, small man tweeted, "With all of the recently reported electronic surveillance, intercepts, unmasking and illegal leaking of information, I have no idea... whether there are "tapes" or recordings of my conversations with James Comey, but I did not make, and do not have, any such recordings."

This man is an embarrassment. It amazes me that his staff and lawmakers in Congress continue to protect this guy. They constantly tell us how hard Trump is working.

So, where was Trump yesterday? Hard at work trying to get his agenda accomplished? Huddling with Senators on the healthcare bill? Consulting with his many lawyers about his self-made legal problems? Nope to all three. He went on the 2020 campaign trail ... again, this time to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His narcissistic psyche requires that he get away from Washington and be with his cheering, adoring fans.

 

Trump is a power/control freak with emphasis on "freak"......he pretended there were tapes which is like a child taunting another by saying, " I know something you don't know nyah nyah"....or a coworker withholding information from fellow employees to have power and control over them....it's a disease but remember the more diseased this turd is the more his peers worship him

 

OR it might make Comey think twice about making stuff up.

 

What it made Comey do was give his memos to a friend so he had proof of what occurred...

 

Well, I'd certainly trust Comey before the Royal Repub Liar God...why did Trump have to play power games like a child or a sicko, why didn't he just say that's not the truth and give his warped version of what he thinks is "truth"....I'll answer since you can't, he did it the way he did because it's all a big game to him and he needs to feel the power over anything else.

One Trump fan told me that Trump was a "disruptor." His fans wanted him to disrupt Washington, and they didn't care about the price.

I think the man was right. Trump disrupts all he touches, domestic affairs, foreign affairs, White House communications, every. That is what they wanted when they voted for Trump.

So, they continue to cheer him on. They don't even bother defending him because he is doing what they elected him to do.

Trump never claimed to have tapes, so what lie do you believe that he told?

 

A leak is something that is unauthorized. Comey was free to make his own notes public. Calling it a leak is just spin.

 

You mean the Washington post buying and leaking behind the scenes interview footage? And those DNC emails weren't leaked. They were hacked and released. Govt employees stealing and revealing information illegally for political purposes is a lot worse. Blame
OBama and his security agencies for not doing their jobs.

Yup. Folks should quote the actual tweet if their going to accuse the President of issuing a lie.

Not if those notes belonged to the government. If Comey typed up his notes on an FBI computer, an argument can be made that it then became a government document, and as such, Comey was not free to make that government document public. Not spin, but admittedly nuanced.

Until he is brought up on charges for leaking I will assume that he broke no law thus leaked nothing. We disagree as to what constitutes spin as from my POV making an argument based upon the word "if" is a tool of spin. Spin is just creating a narrative on an otherwise negative subject that is advantageous to the spinner. Trump and his alternative facts are great examples of spin.

 

Yes memos created after the fact are acceptable evidence in a court of law not....

Come on, everyone knows that Trump has the tapes. His original threat backfired because Comey took notes of what was said and knew he was in the clear to speak frankly to the senate.
Trump can't release the tapes because they'd reinforce what Comey said. Besides, I hear there's talk that Putin had Russian prostitutes sent as a gift to Trump in the Oval office and they punished him for not pushing harder for Russia by blindfolding him and making him stand in the corner. I hear the tapes are a hoot as he tries to find the corner.

And apparently some one was listening in on his conversations with at least to foreign leaders. Absolutely. He has never said that he has tapes. He insinuated someone else might have them. There are few rogue intelligence services around the USA so no one should be surprised if one of those rogue groups actually bugged the White House.
