Trump softens promise of border wall, says parts could be fence

Walling off the border is going to happen. In high traffic flat areas a huge wall would be appropriate while in steep rugged and remote areas a fence would suffice as long as it was properly patrolled. Enforcement is the main issue here and trump will end Obama's catch and release pretend border security

 

It's good to see that you guys are at least accepting that he won. Congratulations, you have left the first stage of grief.

 

I don't care if there's a physical wall or not, but expect him to beef up the INS and put teeth in our immigration law. I also expect his INS to conduct sweeps to deport illegals. Half my town looks like Tijuana due to seeding of illegals here over the last ten years by Democrats doing gerrymandering by population. I want them gone and will be POd if that doesn't happen.

 

What do you say to land owners who refuse to allow a wall be placed on their land which cuts them off from parts of their property.

 

Not mad. Hell it doesn't even have to be an actual fence, just a very proactive deportation policy would make me happy. Get them illegals out and let them back in if they do it legally.

 

Maybe more like a picket fence....or a nice hedgerow. Lol

 

Monetary compensation goes a long way, after all it's Mexico's dime.

All land belongs to the respective national governments. People just rent it.

Fence, wall, moat with alligators . . . who gives a damn about the exact form it takes? As for Trump himself, everyone knows that as a successful business man he wheels and deals and compromises. If not for that then he could never have been a successful businessman. End results are what matters and not how he gets there. How's that?

Since the Repubs are now the majority in the House & in the Senate they can change their rules to specify that all that's required to pass a bill is a simple majority.

 

The only method of blocking a party line vote would come in the Senate, as there is no method in the House at all.

In the Senate, the Dems would have to do what Republicans have done there for years now - block all significant legislation by requiring cloture.

It's going to be key to see how congressional Republicans behave.

If they deny Democrats participation as they have for years now, it's hard to imagine how this is going to work.

 

God I hope so. It would mean the end of the gop

 

Be patient grasshopper and we will all watch what Trump can do about it. I know you hate the idea of legal immigration but you will love it once you experience it.
