I'm in IL and our governor has mandated that EVERYONE must wear a mask in ALL retail locations. So, we're not just talking about people being afraid of the boogeyman. It's bigger than that.

No it's not. It's just prolonging the inevitable.. Those folks wearing a mask are just as vulnerable today then they were December, they have done nothing to acclimate to the virus..

That's irrelevant. We are REQUIRED to use them in retail stores. I may not agree, but I still need to buy groceries so I comply.

Right - DEAL with it, not LIVE with it. To deal with it means to fight and defeat it - living with it is accepting defeat - that it cannot be beaten. Plenty of other countries in the world DEALT with it and are now fully open economically. But no - not the good ole USA. We'll just live with it.

Sweden’s per capita death rate was 35 per 100,000 as of May 15. Meanwhile, Denmark’s death rate was 9.3 per 100,000, Finland’s 5.2 and Norway’s 4.7. All three neighboring countries enacted stricter policies. For comparison, the United States had 24 deaths per 100,000 as of May 15. But Sweden has fared better than hard-hit countries such as the United Kingdom and Spain.

Walking around scared of infection, staring out a home window, giving up social events, what's next with these folks total seclusion.. Ya, you keep that life, it doesn't sound appealing to me! And to be honest, at my age, if I had to live like that I'd rather fricking die!!

If you say so! Hope you are wearing your Elton John goggles, and disinfect every item you bag and take from a shelf :) Personally, I'd rather take the risk, build my immune system to handle it and get on with living out the time I worked, saved and now want to enjoy without pissing myself every time someone gets less then six foot from me

But enjoy your life if that's what you see it as ;)

What's to explain. Deaths in Sweden will go on for a long time.
I call them Brazil light. :)

I've already posted twice now that it's a mandate from our Governor in order to go ANY retail store. Regardless, you aren't going to bait me into an argument.

Not here it's not! We/I do as we please, we have cases sure.. But less and less as people contract and recover, other states like yours! Well you all hide from the virus and every time it mutates you and the closest vaccine starts from square one again ;) Humans need to give their immune system the fundamental building blocks to address this virus and to adjust to it's changes.. But hey I'm sure you know better then a million years of evolution

Its funny that you only post stats that try to represent the US in a bad light.

Why only as of May 15? The data is more recent than that. Why selectively picking countries?

    https://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2020-06-03/europe-has-highest-coronavirus-death-rate-per-capita

Sweden had voluntary social distancing and fared better than many other European nations in terms of mortality rate.

I'm kinda sick of the constant criticism of the United States when statistics say otherwise simply because people don't like the president.

    Responsive

Norway has a FRACTION of the infections and deaths that Sweden has had.

    Sweden's economy is in shambles.

How do that justify all that death?.

So, to be clear, your position is that norways low death rate is directly and independently resultant of social distancing?

It's the result of taking the virus seriously and doing what is necessary to fight it.

    Surrender is not fighting

Well. Obama got a vaccine for H1N1 in time for the school year. Kinda stopped it in it's tracks.

It will anyway. It's arrogance to think otherwise.
