While its true that synthetic opiates are produced here, most of those involved in drug deaths are obtained on the black market, including pills smuggled across the border.

When I wised up and went into group therapy for drug addiction, I thought the people in the group would be a bunch of pill poppers. Instead, they were almost all alcoholics, like me. You're not going to solve this problem with walls or border security. People will always find a substance and a way. There's something fundamentally wrong with this society. Everyone knows it. Look at how on edge we all are. Trump is a symptom, not a cause. I have my own theories about this, but that's for a different thread.

I also practice medicine, have a narcotics license, and am required to stay up to date on these things.

Its even stricter here in California.

And you conveniently leave out that a full 35% of all opioid OD's are from Rx'd narcs procured through a licensed M.D. And, that virtually no one starts there opioid addiction on synthetic Fentanyl, illegal, blackmarket, or otherwise.

It is an easily traceable chain of events: Injury: Opioid Rx: Addiction: Cutoff: Illegal Substitution (Fentanyl and other black market drugs)

Opioid addiction in America starts in the doctor's office.

Where one ends up scoring their dope from is secondary.

I wish it had a lunch buffet, but those are usually provided by drug companies, and I don't usually go to those.

If you are assessing patients, you might be in healthcare (guessing a tech of some sort).

And if you do, you should know not every doc is prescribing opiates.

You should also know that many seekers will say anything.

I never stated that they do, and I believe in opiate therapy when appropriate, even if it leads to addiction (or dependence, or tolerance, depending on the situation). Hospice being one example.

Yes, I do. However, the fact that I'm doing COWS scores daily should have been an indication that I am dealing with addicts that do not have a an illegal, or legal, opiate source, hence the COWS assessment.
