Key wrote the song in 1817 while he was aboard a British ship. Maybe the song no longer stands for American values like justice for all.

The mother who just recieved her son in a flag draped coffin cannot get attention because our government in an effort to control opposition to unjust wars passed a law that the coffins could not be shown. If Our draft dodger in chief really respects the sacrifice of those that die in our wars he should make that the issue.

That said you are making the same old logic flaw that kneeling while the anthem is played is somehow disrespecting the military.

Since Keys was pro slavery it is dubious that at least originally it stood for any such thing. Back when written justice for all actually meant justice for all white men.

its desrespectful for the reasons we were taught in first grade. As I told you before, please attend a first grade class here in America and you will be taught the answer. But then again, obviously you cant be American or you would have never asked that, so who cares what you think about how we handle our filth who disrespect our flag. Try google, if you are still stuck on remedial common knowledge topics. Arent you supposed to be super duper educated? Why dont you know the answer? I will answer you but first you need to ask me, a Trump supporter, to educate you correctly.

You're right. Nor does the Pledge of Allegiance to a flag and the republic for which it stands, with liberty and justice for all. Given the dangers of driving while black, or doing practically anything else while black, liberty and justice for all is very much a joke, nothing but lip service.

The #1 tactic of the Democratic Party is outright lying - and many of their minions then chant the lie like mindless cult worshipers chanting Kari Krishna. It is a lie claiming Donald Trump was a draft dodge. Posting the same lie dozens of times does not make the lie true.

It is amazing how many people REFUSE to actually READ the words of the national anthem while ranting about what it says.

The national anthem has NOTHING to do with local or state police whatsoever. It celebrates the first American troops in the war for independence from a dictator facing seemingly impossible odds, refusing to give up, with the final version also celebrating the military defeat of the Confederacy and end of slavery. The national anthem is 100% about American troops and 0% about local and state police.

Is there anything the Democratic Party wants you to say other than constantly ranting "RACISM!" ?

So, tell us all YOUR sad story if you have one of you being abused by the police.

Trump never was, and still is not "my guy". Nevertheless, do you think that we should 'blindly follow' the slander and lies of America-hating propagandists like those in "Black-Lives-Matter" (BLM)? How do you imagine that striving to "be better" is achieved by by anyone dropping to his knees in homage to a deceitful pack of radical jackals like the BLM mob?

You would have us go to our knees to give 'truth' to the BLM's contrived LIES, and show contempt and hatred for our own nation while we're there, on our knees, like a witless bunch of gullible sheep who have lost all sense of honor and integrity?!

Well, F*CK THAT! I'm going to an NHL Hockey game instead -- with nothing but nausea and revulsion for anyone who "takes a knee" for BLM propaganda and lies!

Not actors on the clock being made millions of dollars to follow an acting script. That is what football players are - actors - and the script of the act they are to perform includes standing for the national anthem.

Yes, at one level it is the right of an actor to follow the script and do the exact opposite in that doing so is not illegal. But it is a breech of the employment contract and grounds for termination.

Sometimes you cannot rationalize with some people who are irrational. You are correct, they need to listen to the lyrics closely and they'll find out what the anthem is truly about.

You usually avoid this kind of silly, out-of-context conjecture, but, just so you know, Francis Scott Key had boarded that British ship to negotiate the release of an American civilian imprisoned by the British, and then was detained himself on the ship as the bombardment of the American Fort McHenry began.

Your nonsensical musing that "the song no longer stands for American values like justice for all" is far beneath you, sir, if you are indeed the genuine Margot2 whose posts I have read for a long time. Although we rarely agree on much of anything, I have known you to do FAR better than that kind of twaddle, and I certainly hope you continue at your more elevated plane, going forward....

Yes, I know he was detained on the British ship.

I don't have a problem with black athletes kneeling during or before the anthem is played. I think we should be mindful of police brutality. I happen to like and appreciate most cops (and firemen) but there is no place for police brutality in America.

You are sitting at a cafe and your friend introduces you to someone who is standing and reaching to shake your hand. I need you to explain to me why it would be disrespectful to remain seated as you reached to shake hands.

You know it is disrespectful. Can you explain why? That's what you are asking us to do.

None of us, on either the Left or the Right, supports or condones genuine, premeditated police brutality. None of us should support or condone outright fabricated, overblown LIES about it, either. And, disgusting displays on one's knees in acknowledgement of these same lies and slanders against the police shouldn't be allowed by anyone connected in any way with the National Football League....

Might be some truth to that. I heard he had 3 prostitutes in bed at once, at the Ritz-Carlton in Moscow.

Too bad you don't feel the same way about minority brutality. Who kill more blacks than any other group in the country. And add to that the illegal foreign gangs who infect them with drugs and crime.
Where are the rich thugs in NFL aka National Felony Leaque when their peoples hoods are being brutalized? Why not make a change where it is needed most?
Cops are like the rest of people good ones and bad ones. I think cops need more policing too but cops don't make blacks drug up,rape or kill each other and others.
Take the plank out of your own eyes before you remove splinter from others. A Bible quote.

Um, sure. Some guy who could run an international financial empire, where he took millions and made BILLIONS out of it must surely be unable to think about more than one thing at a time. :roflol:

Suggestion to all you 'savants' and other Wise Men on the hyperliberal Left -- there are plenty of areas where you could criticize Trump and make valid points. Stick to those instead of making yourselves look like shallow, spiteful, bobbing-head morons....

Black racist are now giving the black power fist when they tackle a white team member. I guess that is for " police brutality " too. Long as the white man keeps bowing down to these thugs and supporting their actions nothing positive will change. In fighting for others equal rights we forgot to also save our own rights.
We should stick with the good people no matter the race and stop being afraid to stand up for what is right instead of what is PC. America does not owe anyone anything we paid for our mistake long long ago. If opportunity was ignored that is their problem. NFL is racist organization to begin with. Don't tell me only 10% of white men can throw a damn football.

We gave the libs our children in the dept of indoctrination aka DOE. We let the ACLU SPLC take over our laws while we sat back and did nothing to save our nation. Peaceful protest would have saved us but we were too busy at the game or race. Now we are invaded by foreigners and our own people have become each others enemies. DIVIDE AND CONQUOR.

Well he took 200 million and may have made three billion out of it although no one really knows his net worth. If he had taken that 200 million and put it in the stock market he would have made much more money that he may have made assuming the Forbes estimate of his wealth is accurate.
