There may be a few weak candidates to cross swords with him for the nomination, but I think Trump will win without a real opponent and DeSantis will wait until 2028.

Obviously I could be wrong, but that's my guess.

I doubt it, I seriously doubt it. He went this early for three reasons: first, an effort to get ahead of all other possible contenders, second, thinking that he actually won the election of 2020 and 2022 despite telling everyone that this was going to be an epic win that nobody has ever seen, and third, all of those legal issues facing him in court because now he can say, "I can't be prosecuted because I am running for President."

He is no Calvin Coolidge or any other American President, Constitutional or otherwise.

    @Arkanis @Alwayssa

trump will be nominated with minimal (if any) opposition.

the 22nd amendment will be repealed in case trump decides on a 3rd term so

the 2028 will be trump vs obama

I would take four more years of Trump if it would get me Obama back for unlimited terms.

We all need to remember the donor class of the former GOP is looking to replace the Orange Fraud. Despite his claims to the contrary he has neither the resources nor inclination to finance his own campaign. Early donors are lining up behind the Tanned Fraud from FL as a more palatable alternative. The question is whether Ron wants to get in the mud with Don.

Most importantly, this is not a real campaign for the presidency. It's Don's attempt to fend off Garland and the other prosecutors.........or at least get the rubes to pay for his defense.

That seems likely to me right now. No major candidate is going to challenge Trump, although imagine there might be a few Liz Cheny-like never Trumpers might jump in the race to raise their profile and sell books.

Should DeSantis run.... I think he would take the primary. He has a similar message, but lacks all the baggage that the hate campaigns have stuck on Trump.. That would, in my opinion- make a Trump win extremely unlikely. Unless he hired the democrats to do the back-end field work, then- anything is possible. He won't do that.

The situation being as it is right now, that is the most likely outcome.

Of course, a lot of things can change: Trump could go to prison. Or either HCQ or injecting bleach might turn out to be THE definitive cure for Covid... But, as things stand to this day, there is nothing in sight that would stop Trump from becoming the nominee. Not Rupert Murdoch, not Mitch McConnell, not Ron DeSantis...

Maybe if you just keep talking about Trump going to prison, the left will convict him on the basis of your research being flawless. Hate is a powerful tool and overpowers a lot of common sense and values, so just keep beating your drum, maybe your dream will come true.

Trump shouldn't run. It just gives the left more reason to keep the pigs in the creek and muddy up reality, which is the only way they can fool the herd.

IMHO, IF he's elected there will never be another presidential election in These United States. He will declare himself dictator and call off future elections.

Running is his only hope of not going to prison. AmeriCANs that are against tRaitor tRump don't hate him (why would anyone stoop to his level), they LOVE These United States. TRatior tRump has made it clear that IF he's reelected, as Steve Banon blurted out, he will never face another election. TRaitor tRump is the only pig in the water, he makes sure there isn't room for any-other's. But he IS dangerous, dangerous to America, it's values, Government BY the People and ... ALL of humanity.

Trump MUST run. He is the only one with the proven strength (and not bought and paid for by RNC club elites) to stand up in resistance against all of the major institutions, agencies, and etc that are against him (and us).

    To avoid prison.
Once Desenseless declares, American's will see him for what he is, a well stuffed but, otherwise, empty suit with a chickenshit smile on a bobble head.

All depends on why you believe what you believe, and how close that is to reality.

Pretty hard to be sure of anything at this point, so many people gaming the system and distorting the pictures.
Personally, I disagree with your view. I think Trump would lose to DeSantis in a primary, and DeSantis would win the 2024 general.
Lots of reason, and the qualifier- IF things were rational. Truth and reason both in short supply these days.

Saw a story today on Trump/Biden 2020. Biden supposedly got more votes that any president in history. That alone sounds like a fairy tale- but then consider this- Biden also won the lowest number of counties in history, only 16.7% across the entire nation.

My research only concludes that he has been proven (by Mueller, by the Jan 6 Committee, by a Republican Senate committee,...) of numerous crimes that would land anybody who has not been President too prison. It does not reveal whether authorities have the spine to uphold the rule of law or not.

But, as I said in another thread, at this point, from a purely political (electoral) POV, it would benefit Republicans if he goes to jail. It would be detrimental to Democrats if he does, because his nomination would be the greatest number booster they can hope for.

I'm not embarrassed about my predictions.

How many MAGA's on this forum predicted Trump's defeat and no red wave at the midterms?

    Yeah.... I know.

Yeah. good one. No, most of us could never conceive of a world that could vote for Biden, not that Trump was a peach... As for the red wave.. I suppose you didn't look too far down ballot yet did ya?? Never mind, not a problem The house is flipped. The SCOTUS is flipped. Next comes the Senate and the WH.

But if he wins the election you will accept the results and just allow him to become a dictator?

IF, he win's "we'll have to accept the results. But then all bets are off if the guard rails the founders built in will hold again.

I don't think so. I think DeSantis understands that opportunity only knocks once, and he will announce in candidacy towards the end of 2023, and give the electorate to grow even more weary of Trump than they already are. He'd be a fool to wait until 2028.

Though I do believe Biden's odds of winning are better with Trump, but because of the fact that it is possible that Trump could win, that America could not withstand another four years of Trump who would be a vengeful president, using the presidency to attack and exact revenge on all those whom he believed he was wronged by, 'tis better to run against DeSantis, who will focus on policy.

I wish Michelle Obama would run and Biden step aside on 'age and health issues', he could do it thus and save face, then 2024 would be a slam dunk.

Or, the DOJ could indict & convict Trump of whatever the crime was that prevents someone from holding office. I'm pretty sure there is a enough evidence for the crime, something to do with causing Congress to Delay, or something like that, not to mention Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment which prohibits anyone who has previously taken an oath of office (Senators, Representatives, and other public officials) from holding public office if they have "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" against the United States
