suing people for using the baby seeds is like suing the child that had children without paying the people that made changes to their DNA invitro

they should be able to sell the seeds once, not claim ownership of every seed the plants that grow from those seeds makes

Republicans putting profits first and farmers second again

It’s a rotten system—responsible for you paying less of your income for (the most abundant and diverse) food than anyone in the history of the world. :)

    Capitalism sucks. :)

not sure what your trying say, so you support them suing small farmers like they are?

    that is greedy Corporatism

they should be able to sell the seeds, not claim ownership to any future children they have

Soybean production was right in line with what Sonny Perdue suggested.

The Futures market is doing fine.

In this particular case they are in a bind because temporary government policy put them there. Since the government inadvertently placed them in harm's way - one could argue china deliberately tried to ruin them - the government should in fact rescue them.

Nah......it is not a bailout. It is a "farm bill" that only looks like a bailout.

Have you been following the soybean story for 6 months?

    From August 2017

This summer, soybean prices have dropped in the wake of a U.S.-China trade war spurred by tariffs announced by President Donald Trump. The current price is $8.94 per bushel. China’s retaliatory tariffs against American exports will hurt soybean and pork producers, The Associated Press reported.

As a result, Rivers has sold only 10 percent of his crop so far. If he sells all of his crop at the $8.94 per bushel price in November, he will have lost an annual profit of about $80,000. Soybeans have become the third-largest cash crop in South Carolina, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service.

“Our crops are still growing, so until November, I won’t have to deal with that,” he said. “I’m hoping something changes between now and then.”

In response to decreasing crop prices, the Trump administration recently rolled out a plan for a $12 billion aid package for farmers, but it’s too early to say how much, if any, of that money might help farmers like Rivers.

I follow every story that has impact.

Have you read the information on trade and tariffs available through the WTO?

China has been buying all the soybeans South Carolina could produce until Trump decided to poke them in the eye.

China's actions have resulted in 100's of thousands of lost US Jobs, and untold $100's of billions in lost revenue from stolen intellectual property and via patent infringement.

In the mean time they have imposed unreasonable tariffs and regulations on companies seeking to do business in China.

How long would you like that to continue unabated?

I think we have to face facts.. The US has mostly passed thru manufacturing... We still manufacture a great deal with FEWER jobs. When we can't compete, what is the answer? Should we prop up coal mining?

Same thing happened with the domestic oil business in the late 1960s. The US couldn't compete with cheap oil from the ME.

Face facts? The US has not passed through manufacturing. Reversing the horrendous globalist agenda of the left is priority one. No Nation can achieve growth and prosperity by servicing another Nations output.

The US is the top producer of Oil and Natural Gas in the world. I guess that is another topic you need to bring yourself up to date on.

Yes.. but the US didn't invest in exploration and drilling until the ppb went to $100.. During the Obama years rig count increased to numbers higher than they had been in 40 years.. production increased .. and schools that had petroleum engineering programs doubled their enrollment.

    Don't be a snot..

Farmers have mortgages, equipment to buy and repair, huge bills for fuel and fertilizer and payroll.. Trump doesn't know anything about Farmers or Healthcare or much of anything else.. and your pie in the sky and your delayed gratification crack is asinine.

Farm foreclosures in the Midwest are sky rocketing.

Don't be a snot? I'm not. Your making claims that according to the information I've reviewed, is not accurate.

    https://www.politico.com/story/2015/08/oil-gas-obama-environment-agenda-121347

If you have some facts to support your claims, I'm happy to learn something new.

Peanuts. At January's prices this is a 1.9 billion purchase which is chicken scratch. The subsidies are many times that amount.

In addition thanks to Trump's trade war soybean prices have fallen by 84% in a year as stockpiles increase. Trump screwed the farmers and taxpayers are covering it.

I grew up in Ghawar so a I know a bit more than most about the oil business.

Nobody wants to drill on Federal lands although thousands of leases are/have always been available and some concessions have been optioned for decades. That had NOTHING to do with Obama.

The government doesn't determine where companies drill for oil or when. That's market driven …. It may help to remember that a reserve is NOT a measurement in gallons or barrels.. Its an economic measurement.

So you support the continued exploitation of the US by China, their unfair trade practices, violations of WTO trade practices, dumping of goods in this market, stealing intellectual property, patent and trademark infringement? I assume that means you also support the resulting loss of jobs, and the closing of business and industries.

So I guess this means you don't have any facts to support your claims.

Look on the bottom of your computer (or iPhone or whatever device you're using). If it says 'Made in China' then you are responsible for the trade deficit, you are responsible for lost US jobs.
