Trump jumps into a divisive battle over the GOP’s future with a threat to start a Patriot Party

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...0.zB62326PHtQuwoFlVlMnqd7XFouAjklQoh1JKk59jds

Former president Donald Trump has recently entertained the idea of creating a third party, called the Patriot Party, and instructed his aides to prepare election challenges to lawmakers who crossed him in his final weeks in office.

Multiple people in his orbit, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations, say Trump has told people that the third-party threat gives him leverage to prevent Republican senators from voting to convict him during the Senate impeachment trial.

And this is how he will keep interfering with the process of Biden's governing. And continue to divide the country .......

Apparently Trump has now ditched the idea, I suspect it may have just been a bargaining chip to influence the GOP over impeachment.

Trump thinks he's in charge and in charge of a lot of people and many of the Republicans from the House and Senate. This includes citizens that are loyal to Trump and brainwashed by Trump. Also there are the thugs including the Proud Boys. Trump can still do what he wants and get away with it. Anyone that goes against Trump can and will suffer consequences just like that. former vice-President Mike Pence was ordered to overturn Biden's victory in which Pence didn't do and the Proud Boys and the Mob that inveded the Capitol Building looked for Pence to hang him and and put a bullet through the brain of Nancy Pelosi. Pence was loyal to Trump all those years and a mob of terror out to lynch Pence for a hanging? Is that the right thing to do? I don't think so! Trump is a dangerous bastard who doesn't play with a full deck if you know what I mean. All I hope is that Trump will pay for it and all this in the end.

Knowing Trump, he will stay in the limelight. He can run in 2024, but I think he can’t get nominated, and even if he did, it would be political suicide for the Republicans.

Since it would also be suicide if they reject the one the people chose, I think he can easily run again. The question is whether the Democrats risk cheating again and running the risk of being proven to have done so. Those who think they've won and the issue is in the rearview are going to find they're about to rear-end that truck up ahead called 2024. All they had to do was to allow unbiased access to the evidence. If it was so cut and dried, why not simply review the claims and have a court reject them ON THE MERITS? Because they know they defrauded. If they try it again they're apt to find that their media cannot bully his supporters the second time.

I think that the worst thing that could happen is for his businesses to fail, and he could no longer have the money to do what he wants. Money is Trumps Achilles heel. With limited funds he would go even crazier. He has some serious debts that he has not attended-to. His credit with his usual banks is negative. They are calling in their loans. Good lawyers refuse to work for him because he is unethical........and does not pay his bills. But time will tell.

Bully for him. He will single-handedly destroy the former GOP or his own Trumper outlier as a political influence.

I predict that by 2032 the former Republican Party will exist only as a curiosity, somewhat like the Prohibitionists or the Reform Party.

Oh, and Trump will still be in jail for the rest of his life.

    Respectfully, I disagree.

Independents represent 30% of the electorate. They voted for Trump in 2016, but they voted against him in 2020. After what happened on January 6th, they will not vote for him in 2024.

If Trump manages to get the 2024 Republican nomination, we will see the Democrat win in a landslide. You’ll end up with 4 more years of Biden or Harris.

If you support Trump’s policy positions, you are not alone, including me. But if you want to win in 2024, we need those policy positions in a different package, not Trump.

and when he loses in 24 , he will put the country through even more crap than he has this time. In his mind he has not lost. The fact is that he is mentally NOT fit for the job. His team might have had some good ideas.......but they were over whelmed by his obnoxious , derogatory and unethical character. We should evaluate what motivated him to run in the first place and what would make him do so again. POWER , STATUS and being center world stage are three big motives for him running again. He is known for not liking the details of the job....... and ignored many of his briefings . The job requires diplomacy ,something he sorely lacks.

He is what he is, and if the Republicans want to win in 2024, they can’t nominate Trump. That would be electoral suicide.

If they nominate a candidate who espouses the same policy positions as Trump, but in a respectful, well-spoken, likable style, I’d say the Republicans could win.

Yes. That makes sense. You are right. He is what he is......and what he is ..is not presidential material. There have to be many possible candidates with similar good ideas that are far better equipped for the job.

I disagree with most of Trump's policies, but I think you are correct regarding Republican chances in 2024. He's already split the Party and it may get worse in the coming years. He's going to be in court a lot and get a lot more bad publicity, only leading to a grater split.

Congressman, NAACP sue Trump and Giuliani over Capitol riot, accusing them of conspiring with two extremist groups

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/do...er-capitol-riot-n1258009?cid=eml_nbn_20210216

and no.....Trump is not a victim. He sets things up so he appears that way in order to get support. A master manipulator. For someone that values an image of strength and power.......victim-hood does not factor in. Self preservation does.

Former President Donald Trump issued a caustic and highly personal statement against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday, effectively declaring war on the Kentucky Republican for failing to back his attempts to undermine the 2020 election.

“Mitch is a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack, and if Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again,” Trump said in a statement released by his PAC.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2021/02/16/trump-attacks-mcconnell-in-fiery-statement-469150

    and the revenge tour begins.

One thing has become vivid : those that stand up for facts, truth , justice are attacked by leaders like trump. He fosters unethical, illegal and immoral behavior. If Mitch had spewed the Trump lie.......... he would have been rewarded. No wonder folks don't know which end is p.
