Are things this bad in California? What happens if the entire middle class leaves? Is this the apocalypse?

I had a friend who moved to CA, that was 30 years ago. He came back and said it was impossible to live on money that he was making here that was very comfortable. He stupidly went cross country for about 10k more and ended up losing his ass in the process on the deal. Housing, taxes, you better be quadrupling what you make in most other places to even break even that move. CA has become a joke. If you peruse social media 70% of the people are hispanic. The last person out, please bring back Ole Glory please. :deadhorse:

At face value Cali looks like a normal place, up until the point they hit the "Total" key and the tax adds a cold wet splash of reality to it all :) What's even more fun is to look at a pay stub and find out Jerry Brown almost makes as much as you do and doesn't even make your Peanut Butter sandwich lunch!

Same thing if you've ever looked on any dating sites. It's because most of the white people are over the age of 60.
You take a look at the under-30s, it looks very different from what you read in the overall statistics.

Median age of Hispanics in CA is 28.
    (2014, source here: http://www.pewhispanic.org/states/state/ca/ )

Median age for whites is 45.
    (2015, source here: http://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-census-latinos-20150708-story.html )

In other words, the median white population is 60% older.

Median means that 50% of the population is older than that and 50% of the population is younger than that. But doesn't really tell you anything about the average. For example, you could have half the population be 10 years old or half the population be 20 years old and the median would still be the same. The median is only looking at the segment of the population that's right in the middle, so might not be the most revealing if the demographic age distribution is not linear.

Less than 24% of students in public CA schools are white, compared to 62.8% of the teachers.
    (2016-2017, source here: https://www.cde.ca.gov/ds/sd/cb/ceffingertipfacts.asp )

(Don't forget that immigrants from Middle Eastern countries are included as "non-Hispanic white" under these statistics)

So let's see, doing a quick little bit of deduction from these figures we can tell that, out of the state's total white population, 11.8% are approximately under the age of 18, 38.2% are between the ages of 18 to 45, and 50% are over the age of 45.

In my day, California dating service was if, you took the lady home, you'd put $100 bill on the night stand and if they were both still there when you woke up you booked her name and phone number ;)

I'd say you'd know you had a keeper if the 100 dollar bill was still there but she was gone before you woke up. :roflol:

Hmm, so what it looks like, the state became too expensive for the working class so they all left to other states while other people came in.

Why did we keep hearing all those stories about a mass exodus out of the state, yet at the same time the state's population kept rapidly growing?
The population today is twice the size it was in 1970, and it was already quite large then, having doubled in size since 1950.

Just to put those numbers in perspective, the entire Dust Bowl migration to California in the 1930's was only 250,000.
That's less than the state has been adding each year.

This shows that California, from 2007 to 2016, lost a net of 1 million people to domestic migration (more people leaving the state than entering the state from other states).
Yet, over the same time period, the state population experienced at net increase of 3.28 million people in its population.

    http://lao.ca.gov/LAOEconTax/Article/Detail/265

(That's almost the population size of the state of Connecticut, at 3.58 million people)

Yes. It's the apocalypse. Go away. We don't need no red state hicks here. We grow our own.

Funny unhealthy obsessions of CA by people who don't even live in the State. Go figure.

Don’t expect a bailout when California goes bankrupt. Other than that, do what you want.

You people kill me. People are willing to pay 4x as much to live in Ca as elsewhere, and you talk sht.

If it was so bad, no one be willing to pay the price. ;) When you see people willing to pay CA rent prices in Red States... oh yes, they couldn't. They're too poor.

Beyond that, never trust a loud-mouthed wimp wearing a bow tie. He probably got beat up a lot as a kid.

Try to remember it's got nothing to do with race. It's about culture.

How can the middle class family afford to buy a 3 bed room house in Calif for a million dollars or more, when the same house here in Nebr would cost $200,000?

Then we have seen all the filth, trash, and drug needles that need to swept up often in cities like SF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Idiots like Brown and the radical left in the capitol have trashed the state.

So what's wrong with cultures intermingling or perhaps merging?

I could literally have a 7 bedroom mcmansion in almost any other state for what I'm paying on my shitty apartment in Los Angeles.

I have to pay this amount to not live in an absolute pile of garbage (see: more white neighbors)

Nothing's changed. In the 1860's Democrats fought to keep their slaves. In the 2010's, Democrats are fighting to keep their maids and landscapers. While California Democrats whine about climate change, they are operating a huge coal-fired project ,,,,,,, in Utah. Democrats in general and California Democrats in particular think they are too good to suffer the pollution created on their behalf. They have been horrible custodians of the natural blessings God gave them and even worse when it comes to trashing neighboring states who suffer their excesses .

God will take care of the idiocy that has become the California coastline by moving it eastward by 75 miles.

I have to admit, all of the people in these posts screaming against the high percentage of Hispanics in California rather disturb me. WTF, do some of you all really think that race matters?

But for myself, my wife and I are now planning on escaping this hell-hole of a state again. Jobs are hard to find, and come nowhere near enough to cover living expenses. I lived better in Alabama off of $12 an hour than I can in California at $20 an hour. And having a state legislature that ignores the will of the people simply drives this home even more.

California is out of control. Trump should replace the government there and start from scratch.
