There is no doubt that the nation has "Trump Fatigue" and is desperate for a fresh face.

What is also interesting is that Tulsi is getting some media attention which will increase name recognition. The Bernie Crowd will back Tulsi but, she is far more moderate than Bernie.

The anti establishment movement was huge in the last election. That movement has grown bigger - for obvious reasons. In the last election we knew Hillary was an Establishment insider full bore.

While we did not know that Trump would not be an Establishment wonk - we did not know for for sure that he would be.

Unlike Trump - Tulsi has proven anti-establishment street cred. She is one of a very small number in congress (13) that does not support arming terrorists - such as Al Qaeda and ISIS in Syria. Talk about running against a herd of Stampeding Bulls.

Now that I can salute !

If she can raise $100 Million, she could be formidable.

The Dem Primary is all about who the Big Dem Donors are going to back.

Tulsi is getting a fair bit of media attention. Name recognition is very important for contenders going against folks who already have it - Such as Biden, Warren and so on.

One hurdle she will face is that she is unlikely to get much backing from the big money interests that run the Military Industrial Complex. On the other side of the coin ... you could have people like Bill Gates and similar fund her whole campaign.

Tulsi is truly something different - she is a real human.

What I would pay money to see in a debate between her and either Red or Blue contenders - is watching the look on the contender's face when she asks that person "Why do you support arming Al Qaeda - the 911 terrorists" ? :) :)

And of course, the big question is:

Exactly how is her meeting with Assad in 2017 going to play with Dem Primary Voters?

It will play very well with the Bernie side - who will throw their weight behind Tulsi with all their might. The Pro War Blue Establishment is not exactly the pinnacle of popularity among average Dems.

This will turn out to be a huge benefit. You should hear here speak on the topic. Tulsi is just waiting for someone to bring that up .. it is not like this is the first time she has faced this question - see post 5.

Tulsi does not hesitate to call out members of her own party on BS. This is not a political sheep - not a follower - this is a "Leader".

She needs a lot of money, if she is going to carve out a niche among a double-digit field (and be among the last 2 or 3 standing).

Literally anything is still possible for a potential Dem 2020 Nominee.

That said, I think Tulsi (at the age of 37) is positioning herself to be in the POTUS conversation for several more decades.

I remember the NIXON Days, and Watergate.
No one detested NIXON more than I did.
Still, to near the end, he did have some support from the Conservative media.
Today there is none. The Trump presidency was not even granted the usual "honeymoon".
Too many news purveyors owned by too few people of similar politics.

I agree that it will be very tough sledding this go around and perhaps her chances are better in the future. I have aware of - and against - Hillary/Obama supporting and arming the Islamist Jihadists in Syria (Al Qaeda - ISIS and numerous other groups of the same ilk) for years and so have been following Tulsi for years.

I had previously brought up Tulsi - in a thread actually - as a potential contender prior to her announcing - albeit there were rumors at the time.

The question is who will the Bernie supporters flock to - and those who have since become Bernie fans. I give Tulsi better than 50/50 odds of being "their" nominee.

Another question is who would be her competition. I do not think Warren is a serious competition - she is way to extreme. Biden would be tough but, he has not announced yet.

O'Rourke would be an interesting contender but he has not announced yet

Castro ? - This guy smells like Establishment wonk to me.

Tulsi could carve out an interesting niche, if she is able to gain some traction early.

Obviously, it is impossible to speculate until we know for CERTAIN who is running and who isn't.

I agree with you. People are predisposed to back an underdog and someone who is bullied. My guess is that if the Media and the Establishment (via Mueller) had not done this - Trump fatigue would be much worse.

That said - Trump is also his own worst enemy. Despite the bullying - Trump is just fatiguing.

She will definitely need to get early traction. If she was able to do this it might dissuade Biden and others from running.

At the end of the day I do not give her a great chance - especially at this point but, I do think her chances are higher than some might suspect.

She needs to position herself as "the"
Democrat from the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party.

That would be Left of Hillary, Obama, Biden and the Bill Clinton presidency.
And to the Right of Ocasio-Cortez.
Being Bernie's anointed would be of great help.

Face it, Biden has no popular value west of the Atlantic!
Just a machine politician supported by Delaware Labor Unions.
Biden is part of the machine as Hillary / Obama.
His inclusion will just "waste" Democratic Party resouces.

    The Democratic Party.

I think she is running for the name recognition that will help her in subsequent Election Cycles.

In 2020, I would put her chances of actually getting the Dem Nom at Slim and None (and Slim left town).

Her past statements on homosexuality are already biting at her. The same with the workplace harassment stuff with Bernie. All ready the the DNC is trying to weed out their undesirables. They do not want a repeat of last time. You must be a loyal Democrat and ideologically pure.

She never had a realistic chance of getting the nom in 2020.

She is clearly setting herself up for future attempts.

Unless the DNC decides to can her, like they did in 2016. The DNC wants elitists who will protect the establishment. Hillary was PRIME example of why that's proven to be true.

Tulsi is the opposite. That scares the rich donors.

Ah, a democrat who is honestly candid about their party. Thanks! (I am not a republican)

Sadly, this is our reality. And given, she is not trump, MSM will give her no coverage. They practically ignored Sanders, and msnbc even let Scultz go because he wanted to cover sanders and they didn't want his coverage. He was not on Hillary's team. ha ha

Yeah, when I hear more about Tulsi's platform, I might be supporting her. Just depends upon how extreme she is. I am not an extremist, unless you think FDR was.

Only in the party of racism can a black man make a couple of jokes about gays, and not be allowed to host the Oscars, but a white woman that actively worked against the gay community be welcomed as the savior of the party, and next presidential nominee.

You just cannot satirize the left. :roflol:

I do not have Trump fatigue, I have media fatigue and Democratic party fatigue.

I shall not comment about Tulsi Gabbard for a major reason. First I know little about her. Second since she joined the Democrats, it downgrades her for me. But I too was a Democrat at her age so know how people can reform. She needs to switch parties.
