He did exactly ONE thing to prepare for all this and Republicans tout it as some incredibly bold decisions, where Trump went completely against the grain in the face of mass criticism. In reality, most airlines had already cancelled flights to and from China. So Trump stopping flights made little difference and wasn't made in the face of mass criticism by the evil liberals.

On top of that, stopping flights from China when they did, was like finding a person with 10 stab wounds, putting a bandage on one, and then celebrating about saving their life. At best it slowed it down and at worst it made no difference. Even if it DID slow things down, what was the point of slowing it down? The point was to have time to procure masks, IC units, and ventilators. Most importantly, it was about dramatically increasing testing capacity. We did none of those things!! So even by your own standards, Trump did almost nothing to get us prepared, yet you still pretend as if this hasn't been a display of unmatched incompetence. Cognitive dissonance and confirmation bias really are powerful psychological forces!!

 

Very big of you to admit that the same people who call Trump a liar are waiting for him to tell them what to do. Hows that, "Big government knows what's best for you" thing working out for you?

You don't understand statistics or medical data. We are weeks behind those other countries in our curve. The spike in death rate will come if/when we surpass medical capacity. Something that has already happened in places like Italy and a place we are just getting to now. Anyways, this is a pointless argument. Reality can't actually be changed by right wing propaganda and lies. In the aftermath of all this, it will be apparent for everyone to see how massive our failure has been. No amount of propaganda and lies can change that. Trump cultists will of course never recognize that reality, but everyone else will.

 

Read the article quoted in the OP. This right wing propaganda piece does ABSOLUTELY nothing to contradict that. Trump failed and is continuing to fail in an extraordinary way and no amount of Fox News lies is going to be able to cover that up.

Wouldn't have needed the time to procure masks (Obama never replenished the 93 million in reserve after SARS), IC units and ventilator (warned by the private market as woefully under equipped in the face of a pandemic to 3 administrations before now). The testing was stifled by the CDC when private businesses had created a viable test in March. This doesn't fall squarely on Trump, it falls on ALL government cause government always sucks and almost never protects the citizens. When seconds count, government is always minutes or months away.
