Yeah. As cheap as they please, considering Russia has no bargaining power in this arrangement.

Javelin missiles are shoulder fired and portable. They aren't in fixed locations.

Which they can ‘t use unless they also die. China’s wealth and standing comes from her trades with the west, not Russia. No trades with the west, no China.

This makes me mad that they knew about this for 3 months and never addressed the public of the possibility until this month.

I'm afraid to upset you, but most people in the world have never seen goods made in the USA, and if they saw it, they didn't buy it because it's expensive.
The world cannot do without goods from China and natural resources from Russia.

Of course they do see american stuff, especially since the USA is the biggest contributor to food aids program. Also, every electronics devices that you use have parts and chips that were designed in the USA and the rest of the western world. The world also prospered WHILE the USSR and China were isolated. You seem to forget that China pre 80's wasn't even on the map and only became an important player when trades with the west opened and western companies start investing and building the industry there.

Not just China and in fact China not the biggest piece of this puzzle - as it is no puzzle why China not joining in Sanctions - having been subject to western Sanctions itself.

India is still on the fence - same with the UAE - without these .. sanctions not have as much bite.

The chutzpah is unbelievable, especially considering that we tried to destroy China's Olympic Games. Then again we do bully nations into submission. Well i guess it's not working too well.

    Anyway here's China's answer:

“The US should ask itself who’s the one that started all this?” Zhao tweeted, accompanying his post with photo of Uncle Sam pouring fuel on a Ukraine in flames while asking “Why can’t China do more to help put out the fire?”

“Never forget who’s the real threat to the world,” the Chinese Embassy in Russia wrote in a separate tweet accompanied by a “USA Bombing List: The Democracy World Tour” graphic showing over 30 countries bombed by the US from the 1950s to the present.

How about a little reality. The more we sanction, the more we are destroying the American dollar. In order to bypass them, more and more nations are trading in their own currency. I believe China said a few days ago, that we might be hurting Russia a little, but we're going to feel the pain a lot more in the end.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the contracts for gas to China were signed quite a while ago. The ones who have no bargaining power are the Europeans. Russia being an honest broker has always fulfilled its obligations. Let's see what happens when those contracts end and they have to pay American prices.

Which is why I opposed locking Russia out of SWIFT. In the long run, that will hurt us much more than Russia.

Pfffft. Can't Americans make even a minimal temporary sacrifice to end a war and save untold lives?

    Sorry, but that's nonsense!
The SWIFT system has nothing to do with US Dollars or any currency! This is about the international bank transfer of money in any recognized currency and its identification and traceability etc.

    @Lil Mike

It occurs to me that when Joe sold out to the Chinese, making business deals with the Chinese for his loser son, he enabled the Chinese to tell him to go eff himself any time they want. The Chinese have got the goods on Joe, and there’s no walking it back.

This isn't about a temporary sacrifice. I said, "in the long run."

Well it means the administration needs China more than China needs them. They have the power in that relationship.

Anything that pushes Russia (and other countries) outside of the current financial system threatens the reserve status of the US dollar. People are still going to be buying Russian gas, oil, and other natural resources, either in or outside the current financial system. Hell, we are continuing to buy Russian gas!

Given that Russia and China are actively looking to dethrone the current system anyway (China is working on a substitute to SWIFT) doing anything to encourage that hurts us and helps them in the long run.

I personally think it was one of the greatest intelligence coups by an adversary of the U.S. that has ever happened.

And Trumps big business with China you forget?
Ask yourself why Trump never imposed sanctions on clothes made in China. Why? Because it would have destroyed Ivanka Trump's business!
And there were never any sanctions from Trump on electronic items either ... because then he would have destroyed Apple, who bought absolutely everything from their iPhones. I have pads and what ever produced exclusively in China!
