South Carolina was not then part of the USA. Abe should never have kept troops where his authority was gone.

Your desperate attempt to avoid addressing any of the facts I've provided and instead make up bull **** about "authoritarianism" while demanding the commemoration OF authoritarianism proves to me you aren't ready for a serious discussion about this.

The federal forts were still part of the USA. Confederates raided several federal properties, sometimes even before seceding. The aggression came first from them.

The "Indians" should thank their gods for Columbus.

"The new research is slowly uncovering the vast scale of the human sacrifices, performed to honor the gods.
According to the new research detailed in Science, captives were first taken to the city's Templo Mayor, or great temple, where priests removed their still-beating hearts.
The bodies were then decapitated and priests removed the skin and muscle from the corpses' heads."
""Some Spanish conquistadors wrote about the tzompantli and its towers, estimating that the rack alone contained 130,000 skulls."
THE DAILY MAIL, The full horror of the Aztec 'skull tower' revealed: Archaeologists say THOUSANDS of human sacrifices had their still-beating hearts cut out before their heads were severed and added to a monument the size of a basketball court, By MARK PRIGG FOR

How did you get it in your head that there's nothing to history but monuments? I said they destroyed HISTORY, not MONUMENTS. And they did. Look at the education system in the South when it comes to the Civil War and secession.

What country do you live in. Over here the left tears down statues because statues offend them. I have no idea what dream world you live in.

They absolutely were. Paid for by the USA, with agreement from the states that they would be maintained as federal property. Read the Constitution.

What planet do you live on where you can't contemplate the concept of "history" without making it only about statues?

I don't think any of that is actually true. I've personally learned a lot from statues.

Last I checked, those statues represented historical battles and historical men. The left decided those statues were intolerant of their feewings so they assembled their cult and illegally torn them down until Trump made it a 10 year jail time federal offense. Then those little cowards ran home to their mommies.

The left ALWAYS distorts history because it doesn't favor them
    Southern Democrat slave owners
    Democrat KKK creation
    Democrats voting on Black issues
    Democrat Jim Crow laws

Until democrats came up with the whole Dixiecrat idea where all those racist Democrats switched parties and now they are all Republicans. Problem is, they can't name these hundreds of party switching racist Democrats. lol

The left has been trying to change history for years. And you come on here and try and claim its a RW thing?
You are certainly way WAY out of your element here. lol

Bud, I've repeatedly denounced the illegal vandalism of statues, even if I didn't like the statues. The RW, meanwhile, is more concerned with re-writing history than with statues, particularly when they can get their hands on textbook committees.

The Southern Democrats you are talking about were Democrats, but they weren't leftists. They were socially conservative. The Democrats didn't come up with the Dixiecrat idea. Dixiecrats came up with the Dixiecrat idea. They were able to remain part of the party, though the joined Republicans in conservative caucuses. When they were no longer welcome, they formed their own Dixiecrat party, which outflanked Nixon on the right here in the South. And this, this is why history is important. Look at the way the RW has destroyed your knowledge of history. And statues had nothing to do with it.

Maybe efforts should start with a certain Senator who cosplayed as a Native to get into college, thereby stealing the place of a real Native American.

But they did have a democratic political system that was an inspiration for Jefferson, in creating our later system.

You forgot to mention that the savages didn't have guns, explosives, or artillery, either. To suggest that they were the overly hostile & destructive culture, shows that you are utterly ignorant of European and world history, contemporaneously, previously, and subsequently to the time period in question. (Sounds like your school omitted a lot from its "special," curriculum).
Oh, and among the many tribes, there was a substitute for war (the, "little brother to war,") in which they decided their conflicts with a game of lacrosse-- a real backward lot. Had we not destroyed their culture & taken their land, they would now surely not know the first thing about nuclear weapons, either. Thank God, for the civilized race(s)!

There are reasons the Civil War was termed the War of Northern Aggression by the South. The war was fought over more than just slavery.

Sherman’s March to the sea was about total annihilation- people, livestock, and anything providing sustenance were destroyed.

When did you become the spokesperson for the left? It doesn't matter what you think. Nothing you think changes whats going on.

Really, what history are the RW changing. Lets hear it.

Nothing about the Dixiecrats I posted is inaccurate. Just because you want to take a deeper dive into it doesn't mean what I posted is wrong, cuz it isn't.

You have provided nothing that supports your idea of this RW agenda changing history. But I could name a few leftist idiocy right off the top of my head.
    CRT ignorance BS
    Renaming military bases
    Tearing down statues
    Destroying art from previous eras
Princeton University remove the name of Woodrow Wilson
    Denouncing historical presidents
Petitioning Yale University to change its name because its benefactor Elihu Yale was a slave trader

Even the National Association of Scholars argues that this newest leftist revision, citing other critics, is substituting a specific curriculum in place of their previous broad frameworks, promoting a negative view of the United States, and erasing major figures (the Founding Fathers, of course) from American history.

Again, you are way WAY out of your element here.

I have often thought that were it still an issue, that ruling would be revoked by later supreme courts.

Yes, because of a historically illiterate propaganda campaign. The first aggression came from the South.

The war was over secession. Secession was, above all else and almost exclusively, over slavery.

Sherman aggressively took out supply lines, late in the war, to try to end the war. He didn't engage in a campaign of the "total annihilation" of people.

The first aggression came from John Brown with his raid on Harper’s Ferry. The ensuing trial and propaganda spread in the Northern newspapers escalated tensions. Slavery was a big issue, but not the only one.

Sherman did far, far, more than take out supply lines. If you read and study on the subject, you can objectively look at this war, how it started, and how it ended.
