They've exposed themselves so badly in this thread, haven't they ?
It's a sad, disgusting thing to see.

Free Speech has limits, and "gassing the Jews" is over the limit. Good on the UK.

If I was a gay man I would sure as hell leave any Muslim country. If I was in Europe I would sure as hell refrain from Nazi jokes.

But of course we’re Americans and we think folks should do everything our way and don’t mind sticking our noses in their business.

Oh and the video was heinous. Hard for me to feel sympathy at that jackass.

I think "gas the jews" fits the legal definition of hate speech, don't you?

Something historical in which 'Gas the Jews' was said would not result in any offence. Had the court believed that he was doing it for the reason he said, he also would not have been found guilty of any offence. It was not the words themself that resulted in him being found guilty but what the court believed was his motivation. They believed that was the intent to incite hate and that is why the court found him guilty.

As I have already said it was not the words themselves that resulted in him being found guilty but what the court believed was his motivation for them.

Basically in a democracy a Government takes a responsibility to protect its minorities and we have laws against incitement to hate. I agree that these laws need to be carefully watched for abuse.

We have similar laws about inciting hate against people because of their sexual orientation.

There is no freedom of speech in the UK. It's applied selectively. For example, Muslim preachers can say whatever they want <Mod Edit- Rule 4>. It's a free speech. The moment someone else says something they disagree with - it's not a free speech any longer. It's fascism, Nazism, racism etc...

    <Mod Edit- Rule 4>

    Undercover Mosque
    https://topdocumentaryfilms.com/dispatches-undercover-mosque/

Dispatches has investigated a number of mosques run by high profile national organisations that claim to be dedicated to moderation and dialogue with other faiths. But an undercover reporter joined worshippers to find a message of religious bigotry and extremism being preached.

He captures chilling sermons in which Saudi-trained preachers proclaim the supremacy of Islam, preach hatred for non-Muslims and for Muslims who do not follow their extreme beliefs - and predict a coming jihad. "An army of Muslims will arise," announces one preacher. Another preacher said British Muslims must "dismantle" British democracy - they must "live like a state within a state" until they are "strong enough to take over."

    No consequences whatsoever.

This is another example of a free speech in the UK. The former major of London makes a totally harmless remarl regarding the Zionist and the Nazis cooperation and the whole hell breaks lose. The UK has become a joke of a country. Seriously. There are triple standards. Typical for a class society.

Ken Livingstone says his Hitler remarks were accurate because a Nazi policy 'had the effect of supporting Zionism'
    http://www.businessinsider.com/ken-...of-labour-party-hearing-2017-3?op=1&r=UK&IR=T

The man almost got publically lynched for his statment. Incidentally, pretty much accurate statment. It's irrefutable fact that there was a deal between the Zionist and the Nazis to deport as many German Jews as possible to Palestine. But it appears that people cannot say that any longer.

If they didn't flaunt their orientations so much there would be fewer hate crimes, don't you agree?

It would be true that if they stayed in the cupboard and hid their sexual orientation then homophobes would not know who they were to harm them. That was the past. This is now.

Anjem Choudary was sentenced to 5 years prison for posting Youtube videos urging Muslims to support ISIS. So what were you saying about "no consequences whatsoever?

There's no need to stay in any cupboards, just keep their sexuality to themselves like the rest of us do.

I see you lumping all gays together and accusing them all of something which belongs to your imagination. If you are a homophobe, don't flaunt it.

What do you mean 'lumping them all together'? If they're gays then they're gays, the same as heteros are heteros? WTF!

That was not the question that I asked. I asked, though rhetorically, why did your link not give one reference to the "gas the Jews" phrase that was said 23 times in the video? Your link does not even mention the word Jew. Your link clearly is aimed at a particular populace and highlighted by the fact that it states that it was about a "Nazi joke"

So it is the same. You believe all gays flaunt their sexuality. You have said so. You do not think it is just some you think it is all. I really have better things to do with my time than speak to someone who wants to flaunt his homophobia

What an absurd case. The guy sounds like a first class tool & I'm not 100% convinced by his denials, but so what? He said something offensive. Tough. Criticize him. Shame him. Humiliate him in public if that does it for you. But hauling him in front of a judge for saying something nasty is not just offensive, its dangerous.

 Yes, but don't forget that I'm a racist as well?? Nor have I ever said before that all gays flaunt their sexuality. I'd ask for an apology but I'd rather not prolong this exchange because you're weird!

Not necessarily. If you encounter enough of them the type becomes easy to spot. At least this guy seems capable of admitting when he is wrong - you might take note.

This is increasingly the norm in every Western country outside the US.

Scotland is just slightly ahead of England and Australia. I fully expect a knock on my door one day to take me off to prison for hatespeak, likely for stuff I've said on here. It might be reasonably likely to cause offence or humiliation.

That's just a reality of life in a Commonwealth nation. It's likely to become much worse before it gets better.

That's entirely different matter. Nothing to do with a free speech. He was convivcted for pledging allegiance to ISIS/ISIL. Knowing our system, he will be out by 2019. I bet anyone here that he will not seve the full prison sentence, which is a joke in itself. He should've been given minimum 10 years.

He was allowed to use hate speech and spread hatred for all western for well over a decade without any consequences. During that time he abused the UK benefit system to the maximum. Find me another country in the world where you can spread hatred and hate indegenous population and at the same time the very same state is generously paying all sorts of benefits to your family. Complete and utter idiots.

Some of Choudary's less inflamatory quotes.

    Anjem Choudary | Inflammatory quotes
    • “When Sharia law is implemented, maybe in 10 or 15 years’ time, she [the Queen] would be expected like all women in Britain to be covered from head to toe, only revealing her face and hands.”
    • “Thieves would have various warnings first, and only in cases where he has stolen more than £20 of non-perishable goods from a private house would his hand be chopped off.”
    • “Under Sharia and under the Koran the sale of alcohol is prohibited and if one were to also drink alcohol, that would be 40 lashes.”
    • “There will be no more pubs, no more gambling houses, no more national lottery.”
    • “All women would have to be covered up appropriately and wear the niqab or veil and so there will be no prostitution.”
    • “By 2050, Britain will be a majority Muslim country. It will be the end of freedom of democracy and submission to God.”
    • “We don’t believe in democracy, as soon as they have authority, Muslims should implement Sharia. This is what we’re trying to teach people.”
    • “Next time when your child is at school and the teacher says, ‘What do you want when you grow up? What is your ambition?’ they should say, ‘To dominate the whole world by Islam, including Britain - that is my ambition’.”

All irrelevant. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison for saying words. So some hate speech is ok, some is not?

No. He has pledged allegiance to ISIL/ISIS and was recruting British Muslims to fight for Sunni radical terorists in Syria and elsewhere. That's not a free speech, that's terrorism. Plain and simple. Learn the difference. That vile creature was allowed to preach his hatred for almost two decades without consequences. Imagine the damage caused. At least try.
