Really a rather petty inconvenience. Requiring a visa is quite annoying, but most European countries have very good visa free travel rights anyway.

Great image, gave me a chuckle.

The problem for the remainers is we live in democracies. Indeed, given the current routing of the left in near all Western countries, it is a problem for the left generally.

An insignificant price to pay for one's sovereignty...

I see no reason to believe travel will be difficult except for minorities like Muslims, blacks, poor people, and those with criminal records.

Why is that? As a non-EU citizen I go to the passport line and I can't remember any minorities being harassed. Europe is not like that.

They're not hard to get at all. Fill in the forms, send them back with your $$$, and wait for an interview where what they do is fingerprint you.

If you only live ten minutes from the border, you can easily save $10-$30 on fuel depending upon what vehicle you drive. The Nexus Pass gets you across quickly even during busy periods. You can also get purchases you make in the U.S. sent to a parcel drop.

I know about the parcel drop. I also ship things to myself from the US side. That way I bypass the limit on purchases you can do on short visit and since only about 1 package in 20 I get is ever subject to duty fees, I save quite a bit.

So they will get some of their sovereignty back? Yes that is great! And getting back indepenence is a good thing for liberal democratic forms of govt. Perhaps their culture isnt doomed ? And they can now keep it?

The monster that is the modern left do not give a rat's arse about maintaining a western culture as they are creations of evil white skinned people. Assimilating into this culture is an evil act, or that is the idea one gets from this engineered modern left.

I just hope my daughter's partner is not going to lose his job in Germany especially with the new one coming in March.

    :roflol::roflol::roflol:

We go from one of the top voices in Europe with very special privileges - for instance we could veto anything we wanted so really could choose what we did.

Now however, we will become yet another state of the US with very little sovereignty at all. I can understand why some American's wanted the UK out of the EU - just like Russia also did.

The historic position of the left died with Regan and Thatcher's Neo Liberalism. Unions were made basically impotent and Thatcher expressed great joy at having been able to destroy class solidarity. The 'Left' basically died with neo liberalism. What they did was agree to go along with neo liberal economics - which in itself stopped it working in the way it did and for its morality kept to trying to be strong against prejudice.

Those who in the UK would previously have supported Labour, particularly those who were losing out and had lost their usual places of support - both the Labour Party and Unions, working men's clubs etc - who by the way used to educate them on politics, first were taken up by the BNP and then UKIP. Class solidarity has been lost which I guess goes along with what people say are 'identity politics'.

Labour have been losing its base since at least 97 when Tony Blair came in and did not act like a left government. I understand the US has had the same problems with the Democratic Party.

Most European Left Parties are not left parties which is why some are beginning to move to the left - but that may be too late.

Certain sections of England I hear, particularly ones where there is hardly a person of colour have become grossly racist. No misusing of the word racism. Paul Mason reported that what he heard around some districts was the most gross - so bad that he was sure that it would be impossible for them to keep a job as all jobs have some restrictions on racism. We also had some tv crew going around with Brexit politicians and again the racism was disgusting and possibly worst of all because they found absolutely no need to be the least bit shy about it. One would be Brexit Politician was quite open about trying to put a pigs head in the foundations of a Muslim Mosque. In another where the racism was coming out quick and fast the reporter asked why so much concern as there were hardly any non whites in the district. 'That is because the people of this area keep them out' was the answer, sounding like a person on this forum.

So now England is moving to the hard right. (racism in Scotland has never become socially acceptable). Racism is something the Left has continued to be against and I do not see that changing. Boris on the other hand for years has been being racist in his books and speeches. He may not even be racist but he knows that by acting so he will win the vote of a certain section of the UK. The head of Britain First joined the Tories a few days ago and advised others of like mind to join. It was their party now he said.

It is easier for the Tories to offer a bit on monetary terms, even if they do not deliver than for the left, Labour in this instance to accept racism. This has given the Right much more clout to grab those who would have voted left and then when you add on to that that people on zero hours contracts believe they are entreponeurs who believe hence that the Tory Party is theirs and you can see the total lack of knowledge which most people now have about politics and how that makes them enormously open to propaganda.

Corbyn's Labour offered to the people what Labour used to be. The people however did not know what he was offering. They no longer know what a left party is. They have no class consciousness. They see Labour as what Labour has been since the late 90's - that is just another Tory Party which like the Tory Party tells lies, lies and lies.

I have often wondered how Fascist parties came into being. Now we are seeing it and it is not surprising. One of the reasons why we all, even the US went for mixed economies after WW2 was because we knew that financial non regulation and Monopolies led to fascism.

The problem remains that the electorate blatantly disagrees with you. Trump is polling higher than Obama on the same day of his office, polling higher than Trudeau, Macron, Ardern, etc. The UK just resounding rejected the identity politics and democratic socialism offered by the Labour party. Jo Swinson lost her seat.

The issue for the left is: you can't do anything from opposition, but ideological purity prevents you from having an electorally viable policy platform.

The people simply don't want what you're selling.

That the North went Tory is unprecedented. The left's traditional white working class base is abandoning them.

And the more you erroneously call them racists for supporting colour blind policy, the more you will be routed at the ballot box.

The thing about cultures is that they are ever changing. British culture today is a vibrant mixture of outside influences going back thousands of years.
The absolute best way to lose British culture is to preserve it in aspic.

The UK as a whole will not be leaving the EU as voted for, because Northern Ireland is left in a kind of twilight zone.
Boris Johnson and the Conservatives lied and voters fell for it.

Thing is, no matter how much you resent Blair and new Labour, the '97-'10 government is the only one we have had since before Thatcher that hasn't been Tory led.
Not only that, the Blair landslide makes Boris's win look like a hung Parliament in comparison.
What Labour have to decide is whether they are happy to stay the voice of hard left in opposition or become a more center left party in power.

    Why should he?
Unless germany is into petty revenge, the worst that should happen is that he'll have to apply for a work visa, which he'll get since he already has an employer willing to hire him. The need for foreing qualified workers doesn't disappear with the UK leaving the EU.
