Looks like whatever Trump has planned will start moving forward. I expect Russia to maintain control of the land they hold, except in Kharkiv Oblast, which will be traded for whatever Ukraine has in Kursk Oblast.

It will be better for Europe when they understand they have no say when it comes to Trump. They would have been part of talks if they had started or were open to negotiations with Russia, but they did the opposite. Maybe they can give Trump some "concessions" on other matters to be included in talks.

So what does this mean? A new war. Presumbly against the baltic states, but maybe also on Georgia.

Baltic states are NATO members. After Ukraine, why would anyone assume Russia would move to war with a gigantic military alliance and at the same time reactivate hostilities in Ukraine? Conflict in Georgia is just as likely as any of the former Soviet states I suppose, we would just be speculating.

Ukraine loses Donbas and Crimea, but gains EU membership and a security guarantee from Europe.

    Everyone happy.

The areas to the south are unlikely to be given up by the Russians, not sure there is a barrier to EU membership for Ukraine other than the EU. Luhansk is pretty much off the table, Russia will keep access to the river from Crimea as it is needed.
This EU stuff is probably not even on Trumps agenda on the matter, the EU should have been open to negotiations from the start, not after Trump forced it. They may be to late for the party.

of course...all that's happening is Ukraine is being thrown under the bus in order for Trump and the US far right to bask in the glory of a newscycle whilst Russia's now being given the time it needs to re-group and re-build and re-start it's de-facto annexations starting again Ukraine and then onto Hungary and Romania and Moldova finally Poland and the Baltics......the US and NATO is now irrelevant so China will start to pursue it's agenda in the Pacific and North Korea will do whatever North Korea wants and the US will slide into dictatorship......:)

Sounds like the UK and NATO should also have the time to re-group and re-build to prevent that. Although that is all baseless speculation. Why not throw in France, Germany and the UK?

And the corridor from Donbass to Crimea? I suspect that will be the sticking point.

who needs war all you need is to fund the far right like Putin did in the US...a 90 minute phone call and he's got exactly what he wants....there's many ways to annex a country.....you do know how the Ukraine war started do you?

..why would you? They were never part of the Russian orbit.....mate....you don't seem to understand what's happening here do you!?

    Sounds like fun.

In fairness I suspect it also gives time for NATO to ramp up their military in defence. They ain't goin' back...

Basically Russia keeps the territory they currently control, not an inch more.

I know they claim territory that they dont actually have control over, and they cannot have it.

I confess I don't either, haha. I can only learn a certain number of things at a certain pace.

I look forward to other comments coming through.

Pootlers mouthpiece Pi$$kopf has already indicated that "European Security" must be on the table in discussions.

Translation: near future attacks on NATO territory.

The kick up the backside that NATO got from Trump was the one thing I agree with. (In the sense of getting their military to a basic level).

    Oh dear.

Why do I get the strange feeling that Russia is sniffing the blood of 'strategic advantage' in this deal convened by Trump.

A fair trade would've been massive aid and sanctions right from the start.

Bankrupt and massively collapse the RF.

I'm eager to see how this get policed and enforced...since let's be honest, none of these territories are fully secured.
