We will see, how this turns out. With the package the German coalition seems to agree on we should be spending over 3% over the upcoming years. Le Pen who was one of Trump's main supporters in the EU critizized the game he played with Ukraine, stating that she can understand that the US wants to withdraw the support, but it should have been done another way, not this all of a sudden blackmail kind of style. That could be an indirect peace offer to Macron she wont block him when it comes to Ukraine support.

Maybe the big players France, Germany, UK (although not EU), Turkey (although not EU) can motivate the smaller ones like Norway to go all in.

As it seems the US is forcing the EU states and other European states to provide a huge stimulous package to build up its own industrial military complex. If it is even a good investment in the end or not we will see in the end, I just dont get what the Trump administration is going for. It is damaging its own companies, who had the European clients and force them to make debts and build up its own supply on all levels (e.g. find subtitutes for their patriot systems in the long run, which was a unique selling point). I dont get the overall autarky approach of the US, unless they wanna really go to war against Canada or Mexico or something like that.

 

Germany is said to be rearming. That should help the French to sleep at night.
