http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...ian-deaths-pentagon-latest-toll-a7755866.html The Iraqi civil defense forces initially put the death toll much higher 278. The US blamed the high death toll on explosives stored by ISIS which were hit during the airstrike. If this would have happened by Assad or Russian forces the US media would be crying "bloody murder" .. intentional targeting of civilians ... and so on. Interesting how the treatment of the media differs depending on which side they are talking about.
In war "collateral damage" is inevitable. Who cares how the media covers it? It still amounts to a lot of dead, innocent, people. War is hell.
Sons of f.ks... But you know what? We deserve this because we are doin nothing but watching these bastards bombing towns killing civilians according to their own agendas to shape the region in favor of yoshis and yankees. Keep it up Russia... Nice work Iran... Welldone Türkiye...
I could understand the angst, & labeling US forces as butchers & child killers, if their INTENT was to do so. Without that, comments as such, are just inflammatory claptrap, in need of Preparation-H.
I did not use either of those terms - nor did I criticize the civilian casualties so you can tear down the big straw man. It is not like Russia or Assad's forces intentionally kill children and civilians either in the manner of speaking you are referring to. Like it or not ... when you bomb civilian areas (as the US did) .. because some bad folks are in the area - if there is civilians also present .. and this is known (such as the case in the OP) - this is "intentional" bombing of an area where there are civilians present. Hence the need for terms such as "collateral damage" and "human shields" in order to couch atrocity in language that disguises what is actually happening.
I wasn't directing my comment at you. Read your thread. You'll certainly be able to see my reference.
I guess there's no solution to urban warfare other than to bomb them and kill hundreds of people. It's a good thing the west hasn't seen such casualties in their cities since WW2.
Yes there is, just like we did in Al Bab you can conduct ground operations with special forces leading all teams and clean the area block by block. Of course that requires special concentration on booby traps in buildings and explosives even made in shape of random rocks on the sidewalks and mines under the asphalt. Thanks to western backed PKKs decades long rural guerrilla warfare that has turned into an urban one which lasted almost two years, Turkish special forces became maybe the most experienced of their kind in the world and that rendered success in Al Bab.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-40051640 You got the intel for the positions of the snipers. You don't send your "all-too-cool" delta units to take'em out but instead for some reason decide to send aircrafts/drones to kill them with bombs. I don't even touch upon the tied intel possibly reported about the risks of bombing the area. This is how western lies usually become tragically hilarious...
