Yesterday with much ceremony President Trump signed the new US, Mexico, Canada Trade Agreement. This replaces the old NAFTA agreement and was one of the President's campaign promises. The agreement was passed by bi-partisan votes In the House, 385-41, and in the Senate, 89-10. The President
invited 70 Republicans and 0 Democrats to the signing, took full credit for the bill and used the signing to praise Republicans and criticize the Democrats in Congress.
Did the President miss a chance to lessen the political division in this country?

What here is a substantial change from what we already had planned or what was already established by NAFTA? Maybe there is something there, but I haven't seen it yet, and Conman Trump has a nasty history of trying to pass off rebrandings as personal victories

Crying, 'he didn't take the opportunity to lesson the political division in this country' = calling time out in street fight. It's not going to happen. Just keep fighting. Even if you lose, it will be easier to live with than if you go down crying 'time out'.

The well is poisoned. No lessening in political division is possible.

So you both favor the current non functioning angry political system?
How does this struggle make this a better place?
How does what the President did make it likely he will find bi-partisan support next time?
Is the only way for this to end this "street fight" to have one party win an ultimate victory that destroys the other party?
What type of government evolves from a one party system?

The Democrats began the downward cycle with their destruction of Judge Bork in 1987. The Republicans fight this battle reluctantly.

Then for the good of this country they need to be the better citizens and step up. They don't have to continue because of something that happened in 1987. For every Trump investigation/ impeachment the opposition can point to Clinton investigations/impeachment; for every Bork the opposition can point to a Garland. For every Huffington Post the opposition can point to a Breitbart.and so it goes

If the Republicans back off and act civil, the Dems will run over them like a steamroller. The Dems will never stop playing Machiavellian games; they don’t take prisoners.

Do you think playing nice with the Democrats will ever pay off, and get then to treat the president fairly?

The Democrats have burned whatever bridges they ever had, when they impeached a president sans any evidence of a crime, citing nothing but their speculative assumptions, conjecture and politically biased opinions.

By defeating these lawless Democrats, that's how we make a better place.

At this point, treating the dems with any respect is to reward their despicable behavior over these past four years.

So we are one the way to a one party system.

I think both sides have been despicable from time to time.
I remember the lock her up chants
    I remember the birthers
This was before the last 4 years.

Now that the Democrats are doing the same thing to the Republicans that the Republicans did to them when they controlled things the Republicans feel like the victims. This will continue until Democrats win an election and the roles will be reversed.

There is no purpose to this except getting revenge. It does nothing for the country. It is like watching angry children in a sand box
