Not arrogance, just being informed. Ignorant people frequently confuse the two and then get all upset when informed people treat them the way they deserve to be treated - lazy, stupid or both. One of us is willing & able to pay attention & do research. The other regurgitates propaganda and makes insists their fact free pronouncements should be taken seriously. You seem happy enough with your choices, so I'll leave you to them.

Why do intelligent people - and yes, I count you among those, even though I often don't agree with you - tend to believe stuff published by RT? Haven't seen a single post in this thread challenging the OP. Odd, more so because one of the first results of a google search for USS Chafee is a denial of the Russian version of events.

Do you have to step sideways through doorways to fit that ego through?

And what did you expect the US to say, we were there to spy on the Chinese destroyer? I listened to an objective and brilliant analysis, and he said that Russia and China were conducting their largest maritime exercise to date, and that they had issued a Notam to airplanes of a potential hazard in the area. So Washington knew very well what was going on.

The US did not enter Russian waters, but came quite close and considering that China was introducing their newest and most advanced destroyer, it did make the proximity of the American ship seem very suspicious. A person would have to be a fool to think otherwise.

It seems though that there are a lot of provocations going on by Washington lately. Are the Democrats trying to start something to distract from our domestic problems? Victoria Nuland of the neo con Kagan clan went to Russia supposedly to better relations and instead she worsened them.

Then we have our Defense Secretary saying that Nato is open to Ukraine and Georgia when they know it's a red line for Russia. Are they trying to emboldened those nations to start a war when there's no way they can win - even with US support. So what's Washington up to?

How about this bit of news from Sputnik:

The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) is preparing to begin the tenth annual nationwide air drills, codenamed Fada’eeyan-e Harim-e Velayat, or “Defenders of the Velayat Sanctuary.” This year, however, they come amid rising tensions with Israel, which recently approved a special budget to prepare for striking Iran’s nuclear facilities.
I can't understand you, don't you read the news? Israel has been threatening to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities for months now. Two weeks ago when Blinken was there, he gave them the go ahead to do it. Now Israel approved a special budget to prepare for the strike. If I didn't tell you that, you wouldn't even know it?

Blinken never gave Israel the go ahead to bomb Iran. That's silly. First of all.... you would never hear of it if it actually did happen. Second, such "permission" is dumb. Like you seeking permission to go to the bathroom. Israel has never needed anyone's "permission" to further its own national security goals.

Violation of enemy airspace is very common... always has been. I remember when I lived off the runway at Langley Air Force Base. Russian "Bears" would drift into our airspace routinely on their way to Cuba to measure what our response time was. I remember many nights being awakened by the roar of our fighters taking off to ward off the Bears.

Nations do check with their allies - and especially the US before taking military actions, so why would Israel be any different? Maybe I should have said that Blinken gave Israel his okay. That would have sounded better.

But you are right about the Soviet Union flying close to our airspace during the Cold War, and these things have been going on and for a long time - yet from what I'm reading, these incursions or provocations seems to have accelerated lately by Washington - as has the rhetoric.

It doesn't seem that Washington wants to better relations with Russia, but is trying to aggravate them for some reason or other. The blame is being put on the neo cons in Washington, and one analyst said that one defense periodical stated that if Russia was to lose a war with Ukraine, it would help overthrow Putin.

Yep, and Assad would be overthrown in 2 weeks. Have they ever been right?

Israel needs no permission from anyone.

These little "games" go on all the the time, remember when it was Russian bombers patrolling off our West coast to test our response times? Problem is someone sooner or later is gonna miscalculate and somebody loses an eye, OR WORSE.

Yup... although its been going on forever... it only takes one mistake.
In 1981 I was stationed in what was then West Germany. We had a huge radar complex located on a hill at a place called the Wasserkuppe. A huge formation of aircraft came over and passed by it from East Germany. The SOP said for air defenses to launch and shoot them down. One Major on duty at the time fet something was wrong and ordered them NOT to fire. It turned out that the formation was a large contingent of Soviet civilian and military aircraft headed for the Paris Air Show. Somebody forgot to inform the 1st AADCOM (Army Air Defense Command). It was a very close thing.
