It's interesting to note that a manager at a popular Vancouver restaurant was fired for tossing out a customer wearing a MAGA hat.

VANCOUVER, Canada -- A Vancouver restaurant manager has been fired for refusing to serve a customer who was wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat.

    […]

Eva Gates, vice president of operations and human resources for the Sequoia Company of Restaurants, says the capped patron was sitting on the patio at Vancouver's Teahouse in Stanley Park on Tuesday when the floor manager approached him.

Gates says the manager told the man he had to take off his hat in order to dine at the Teahouse. The patron opted to leave the restaurant instead.

Good for the restaurant owners. The manager should have been fired. (He refused to apologize.) I gag when I see Sarah Sanders on TV, but she should be able to eat a meal in peace with her family. Ditto the guy in the MAGA hat. And considering how Trump has attacked Canada, especially his Big Lie about Canada running a trade surplus with us when we're the ones with the surplus, they would have as good a reason as anyone for dislking Trump.

If Canadians can treat all Americans with respect, why can't we do the same?

It was good he got fired but the spread of discrimination from liberals is extremely disturbing.

Refusing to serve people simply for their beliefs is only the beginning.

Everyone should be scared right now at how liberals are behaving.

Their hate needs to be stopped.

Reminds me of conservatives not serving hippies fifty years ago. Yes, it needs to stop before it becomes widespread.

Obviously if it was simply wanting to ban people because they were of a different political opinion and in particular given the divide I keep hearing there is in the US then refusing to serve someone for the wearing of a hat would appear to be simply bias. However given that some people genuinely believe that fascism is developing in the US and in particular through Trump it becomes something quite different. If indeed fascism is victorious in the US then the firing of people such as this Restaurant Manager if his motivation was the same as the owner of the Red Hen's, those opposing such actions as those of this Manager will be seen as those helping by their refusal to confront, America becoming Fascist. That I think are the two sides of the argument here and the position of the Manager is either bias or conscience depending on his motivation.

How does refusing service to someone wearing a MAGA hat deal with fascism?

Nice try blaming liberals but you opened this can of worms with your unwavering support of the homophobe baker.

Correct. Disagree with his politics, but he's got the spine to stand by his convictions:
"I stand by my decision to ask the patron to remove his hat. The MAGA hat has come to symbolize racism, bigotry, Islamophobia, misogyny, white supremacy, homophobia. As a person with a strong moral backbone, I had to take a stand against this guest's choice of headwear while in my former place of work," he wrote.

    Completely different.

That was a specific request that was denied based on religious reasons. Had the gay couple come in and just ordered a simple cake there wouldn't have been a problem.

Now had Mrs. Sanders said she wanted a pancake in the shape of a penis I could understand the restaurant refusing that request.

The specific request is irrelevant. All the people in these business discrimination stories opened their doors to the public at large and advertised their services as something that could be requested by anyone who walks though the door.

Once that intent was declared they should be required to either perform as advertised or go out of business. The baker situation shattered that, and now business on customer discrimination is the game of the day.

    All thanks to you guys.

oh please, it's exactly the same...you support a man who encouraged violence and intolerance during his election campaign and still does now and try shift the blame to the other side when they retaliate with similar behaviour...

It has only "come to symbolize" those things by way of the liberal MSM's all out hate campaign against Donald Trump.
And then some people wonder why Trump criticizes the media!

    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-violence_us_56e1f16fe4b0b25c91815913

Racial slurs, nasty rhetoric and violence at Trump rallies have become commonplace against protesters, bystanders, and reporters. Assaults are committed not only by rowdy Trump fans, but by the staff he employs to keep the events safe. But rather than denounce these incidents, Trump is making them part of his brand, and uses them to rev up crowds.

“There may be somebody with tomatoes in the audience,” Trump warned people at a rally in Iowa last month. “If you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them, would you? Seriously. Okay? Just knock the hell — I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees.”

Trump has even threatened to personally get in on the action. “I’d like to punch him in the face, I’ll tell ya,” he said of a protester on Feb. 22.

What I said was that the motivation for asking the man to leave may not have been bias but may have been conscience.

I do have a problem with that. It thanks to the baker decision, businesses don’t even have to post a sign. They can just spot discriminate.

So then you have a problem with kicking Mrs. Sanders out of the restaurant?
