I continue to be astounded that the Catholic community has not been collectively outraged and disgusted with every aspect of the church. Christopher Hitchens is right to say that, "religion poisons everything". What better example than a Pennsylvania church offering 'salvation' to generations of parish believers while systematically abusing its children. Pope Francis is the most rational religious leader in memory, but his good intentions notwithstanding cannot retrieve an organization which has completely rotted within. How can any pious member of this corrupt and irresponsible organization ever come to trust any assurances from any Cardinal or Bishop?

A pedo seeks out the job that will bring him closer to the kids, and religion is tops on the list.
He has the trust of both the kids and the parents.

And you better not rat on him, he has God's cell number.

Putting on a robe and talking about God does not make you a Christian.

    OP

The Pope's weasel words yesterday? Nothing but damage limitation - he knows it's been going on for decades better than anyone does.

I always said Christianity was written by lawyers.

These priests can go to confession with another pedo priest, who will wash away all their sins,
And exchange notes on the best kids.

I don't understand how Catholics, unless they are pedophiles themselves, can support a Church where they can't leave their child alone with it's leaders...

And committing heinous crimes while proclaiming you are Christian does NOT mean you aren't a Christian.

Nope, won't fall for that Christian denial and scapegoat, " if a Christian does something wrong they aren't really Christian"...

Better talk to Jesus 'cause he said NONE of you are sinless....

I doubt a man wakes up one day and is suddenly attracted to children.

A Christian would realize this long before they ever took action and taken whatever means necessary to fix it.

If they don't then you are correct, they aren't living a life according to God and are not a Christian.

Yes we all sin but part of being a Christian is making an effort to improve.

More double talk, first you say the above, ""A Christian would realize this long before they ever took action and taken whatever means necessary to fix it.""

Which says that Christians don't sin.

    Then you say:

"Making an effort to improve" doesn't mean one didn't sin or can't sin, Christians sin and if they say they don't they are committing the sins of lying and Pride.

Why does there seem to be a propensity toward homosexuality as well as pedophelia in the Catholic Church??.....and covered by leadership?? Jesus did say that if anyone were to lead these little ones to "fall away", it would be better if a giant millstone be tied around their neck and thrown into the sea, Jesus never had that many harsh words to say, and most all of those harsh words were directed toward religious leaders. Isn't it apparent that any young adult or child molested by someone sanctioned by the Catholic Church would "fall away"? ......or miss out on the saving Grace of Christ save for a miracle?? I would think a Church that preaches Jesus would throw these fellas out on their ear and then to be punished by the secular legal system, then imprisoned along with some big fellas!

Priests are supposed to be celibate, Maybe in their minds it just means sex with women is outlawed.

Ya, if you're Catholic they just cover it up and give you " fresh fields" to cultivate.

Is that in the same vein of thought as when Bill Clinton tried to tell us oral sex is not sex?

Good post. In a way they're making themselves complicit in it. How can they all sit there, hanging upon every word their father/preacher/pastor whatever is saying, but it doesn't cross their minds there's every possibility - given how commonplace and widespread the perversion is - that he's a paedophile?

You are correct in stating that the Original Sin concept is a total fraud perpetuated by the church to create a false sense of guilt designed to loosen the purse strings of the gullible sheeple.

A Catholic priest, a pedophile, and a rapist walks into a bar...

He sits down and orders himself one drink.

The original sin I believe, was the pride of thinking one knows better than God. DL, you do that repeatedly in your posts, so you should know.

All weasel words but no action. As I said earlier - a PR exercise, and nothing will change. The only thing that puzzles me is why can't the 'flock' understand, and do something about it - after all, if it weren't for them there would be no priest paedophiles, QED? I mean half a million turned out just to get a glimpse of a paedophilia apologist . . . what on earth was going on in their heads?? The fiasco cost £27 million and I'll bet that all the while he was thinking '**** it, if only I'd clamped down on it, I wouldn't need to be here, and could be living it up back in Vatican City.' And please don't tell me that 300-seat Aer Lingus plane was chartered just for him and his half a dozen toadies??
