Didnt we ban large capacity assault looking weapons once? And that expired ? Background checks are already federal law except at gun shows.

I am pro second amendment and have no problem with making assault looking weapons and big magazines in the same class as fully auto rifles . Very difficult and expensive to own but still legal .

Anyways a nice lever action rifle is a beautiful rifle. And my preference. For the m16 look-alike brings back bad memories from 1968. When I had to lug one around and kill others with it. Where carrying my 35 cal lever action has good memories of me as a teen deer hunting with my dad .

If the firearm-related restrictions of any individual state, no matter how strict and comprehensive, can easily be subverted and rendered useless by the existence of other states not possessing equal or similar firearm-related restrictions in place, then the existence and implementation of these firearm-related restrictions ultimately serves no purpose. It is nothing more than meaningless virtue signalling with no practical purpose.

Yes. Federal laws are now optional for states, and state laws are now optional for cities and counties.

If you're against ownership of any semi automatic rifle or carbine "in common use", you're not pro 2nd Amendment and have only yourself to blame when you're "beautiful" lever action rifle is also banned.

I live in Virginia and have watched these same Bloomberg bought politicians generate some of the most outrageous anti 2nd Amendment legislation imaginable including banning any firearm that might accept a magazine holding more than 10 rounds.
This would include even the Mod 1911 .45acp pistol because there are some magazines made for the 1911 that hold 15 rounds and might be used in a 1911.

I don't know about you, but when I took my oath of enlistment in the 1960s to defend our endangered constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic, it did not have an "expiration date".
