Pass the popcorn indeed. Will opponents be able to collect the required signatures? If you lived in Seattle would you sign the recall petition :
From what I hear, pretty much everyone else running Seattle is a Progressive Leftist activist, so it seems they are throwing her overboard either as a sacrificial lamb, or because they really don't like her, she took things too far with her obnoxious activism. She's also tried to hijack the BLM movement twice now for alternate political ends. She's also pretty much an avowed Marxist and that doesn't really sit well with about 60% of the other Progressives who are running things in the city, some of whom are more just moderate socialists. Seattle is a crazy place, but she seems to try to push the crazy too far.
I have no problem with recall petitions/elections. If the votes are there, throw 'em out. I'd even support a constitutional amendment to apply to Congresscritters...
I prefer socialists to be honest about their goals. After all, I'm honest about mine, how else are we to compete in the free marketplace of ideas? Sounds to me like the rest of the city council is just pissed that Sawant is giving up the game. Socialism only works in America when its implemented in backroom deals with corporate bribes, obfuscated agendas and minimal public awareness. Far more respectable is the politician that tells you what they truly support than the one that just tells you what you want to hear. Of course the corporate establishment progressives want to get rid of the true believer. I oppose nearly everything Sawant stands for, but I wouldn't sign the recall petition. Sawant likely represents far more of what Seattleites actually want than any of the other council members, and that's precisely why they want Sawant gone.
