I love it when these Plutocrats pretend to be populists in order to build a moat between themselves and the redistributionists.

They fool no one. Every dime of Buffet's wealth should be subject to same taxation that anyone else's is.

    One people,
    One set of rules.

Uncle Warren wants to thank all you rural peasants who vote R like a bunch half-cocked tribal lemmings for potentially saving him like $800K on this year's tax bill... LOL.

Even trailer trash Republicans don't think the Oligarchs should pay taxes. The poor Rs are well-trained, and proof that rightwing propaganda really works. North Korea must be impressed.

Didn't think so. All talk when it comes to HIS money...typical leftist.

Buffett is a saint, compared to Donnie's Trump's criminal enterprise with countless lawsuits.

It's not a health care bill by any means, it's a tax cutting bill for the wealthiest, nothing more.

Perhaps the lefties can persuade Mr. Buffett to finance the State of California's single payer system. For some reason it stalled when they figured out is was a bit costly.
The rest of the nation could use them as a test case.

We don't need any single person to fund anything, it pays for itself through a rise in payroll taxes for everyone. It will be cheaper than private insurance premiums, and have better access to care. It was stopped by Speaker Rendon, someone who receives thousands and thousands of dollars from the.....you guessed it.....medical insurance companies.

Buffet paying low tax rates has nothing to do with healthcare, but with the low tax rates imposed upon long-term capital gains. The tax code favors the investor class. The people who get the shaft on taxes are those who make a middle-class or higher wage with few deductions. I've been there, and it's not pretty.

Buffet himself recognizes that US healthcare costs have risen from 5% of GDP in 1960 to 17% of GDP now. What he doesn't realize is that the rise in costs are virtually all caused by the federalized health-care programs created in that time frame. Yet, Buffet wants to go to the most federalized health-care program of all, single payer, and then thinks this is the solution?

Buffet should stick to investing, and stay away from political issues he doesn't understand. The tax code needs to be normalized, so its tax rates are not dependent upon what type of income you make, but how much you make. That much I can say about tax rates, and to that end Buffet has a point, his capital gains tax rates should be raised higher than my capital gain tax rates, and higher than a middle-class wage earner; but that is about all he has a point on.

What would be percentage increase in payroll taxes and are they after or before tax dollars?
What if you do not pay payroll taxes?
What about the one or two illegal aliens that reside in California.
Who will determine the doctors fees for every one of the thousands of possible tests?
Will the doctors support those numbers handed to them by the state?
What about the tens of thousands employed by the insurance industry in California?
Will it then make sense to have California take over the automobile insurance industry?
    What about dental insurance?
Will I still be able to sue a state owned doctor for malpractice or will I just be suing myself (taxpayers)?
    My 2¢

I think it was a 30% or so increase, maybe more. In the end it comes cheaper than to pay private premiums. Nearly everyone pays payroll taxes, unless you're only getting money from wealth/growth and not labor. Good question though I'll keep this in mind. Doctors fees are what Medicare charges, and doctors are happy with Medicare. Most doctors and virtually all nurses support Medicare, so I believe they will support it. Automobile insurance is not comparable to health insurance. Dental I believe should be included into Medicare. I am definitely not sure about the mal practice stuff, most people don't sue their doctors so I'm really not sure, again good observation.

He needs to pay the same as everyone else, and if he wants us on single payer, he needs to be on single payer.

Cruz plan could be key to unlocking healthcare votes.

The Texas Republican is pushing for a provision that would allow insurers to sell plans that do not comply with ObamaCare insurance regulations, so long as they also sell plans that comply with rules. Cruz says giving insurers a path around the regulations should allow them to offer some plans at a lower cost.

The amendment could be the key to ensuring that the legislation passes both the House and the Senate.

House Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) indicated he could support the Senate bill if the Cruz amendment is included. That’s different from a little more than a week ago, when Meadows said the Senate’s legislation lacked enough conservative support to pass the House.

“If the Cruz consumer choice amendment gets there, yes I can support it without the MacArthur amendment in there because I think it gives everybody some options,” Meadows told reporters late last week.

It’s a radical idea, allowing insurers to sell plans that people want to buy — but it just might work!

People who get their income form wealth/growth don't bother with insurance. They went to concierge medicine long ago.

Doctors are not happy with medicare. They are also not happy with the added monies from supplemental insurance company (usually less than 10% additional). A cardiologist friend had to double his working hours to keep up his income to what it was before obamacare. Nurses have no skin in the game so they will tell you anything you want to hear.

People sue doctors on a daily basis. The doctors malpractice premiums are sky high. Ask your friendly neighborhood surgeon. Do you want the state to cover that as long as they are dictating costs and selling prices?

Including dental care will have a dramatic effect on premiums. Virtually all dentists are against such a move.

Much of California operates on the barter basis. Incomes are hidden to avoid the current high taxes. Add 30% your current state income taxes and you will see a revolt like you have never seen before.
Then there is the illegal alien issue.

I get your wishes but back to the same question. Who is going to pay for it?

With global warming, we should have fewer flu outbreaks, so poor people don't need as much insurance.

Mostly all doctors would rather deal with Medicare than private insurance companies. They might not think the system if perfect, few do, but comparing Medicare to private insurance, Medicare wins every time.

That said, all people, businesses, and doctors want is what the rest of the civilized world has; a government or utility system that keeps drug costs low, and premiums low. Everyone wants this, but our politicians are corrupted, and now there has been 40 years of propaganda since Nixon to keep things the way they are.

That's because excessive charges and other fraudulent crap is much easier when dealing with Medicare, than with companies that actually keep track of such things. A BIG REASON why costs are so high....
