Amy Coney Barret is now on the U.S. Supreme Court. The only question that should have been asked was -- is she qualified? Because the answer was a resounding yes then she should have been confirmed. I'm in favor of 9 judges -- but no more and no less. Leave the numbers as the Founding Fathers wisely saw fit. Just think, the vote was 52 to 48, with one republican senator from Maine voting no. One village idiot from Maine. She joined 47 other village idiots who are democrats.

If Trump wins and the GOP keep the Senate, they should stake the Court just like the Dems wanted

The same question should have been the focus for Judge Garland. Don't you agree?

Barret is obviously qualified. So was Garland.

It's politics, pure and simple, and both parties do it when it suits them.

The whole "We can't confirm a justice this close to an election because of these arbitrary circumstances" routine in 2016 was conveniently forgotten for a different set of arbitrary circumstances this year.

Want to know what those arbitrary circumstances were? Simple. The Republican had the power to block Garland and confirm Barrett. Those are the circumstances. The party with the power used it to their advantage even though it meant breaking from their own precedent.

And the Democrats will do it back to the Republiacns the first chance they get. Which means the Republican will do it back to the Democrats the first chance they get after that. Which means that after that that, the Democrats will do it to the Republicans the first chance they get. The cycle of imbecility goes round and round.

Massachusets v Fergusson, iirc, was the circa 1900 decision where a court ruled that the govt could forcibly vaccinate people in the case of a declared emergency. Barret has written she supports that decision.

    Not a good pick, imo.

I would agree. Probably wouldn't have effected my life if he had been seated. But I guess the republicans didn't agree he was the best. Elections have consequences.

    Bizarre.

It's wise to not criticize others as being "village idiots" when you make a mistake three sentences prior. Just sayin. Credibility, ya know.

I may be the village idiot and make mistakes (I never met a man who didn't make mistakes), but I went from dirt poor to wealthy. Can you top that?

Yep. I don't call people village idiots because I disagree with their politics. I couldn't care less how much money you have.

Some people don't recognize an idiot because they may be on the same plane. You do sound like you are jealous because you "can't get ahead financially". Think like a poor person (liberal) and be poor all your life.
