These actions are typically a result of a maladaptive disorder or excessive attention-seeking by the caregiver. In addition to being a disorder, Munchausen syndrome by proxy is also considered a very serious form of child abuse.

and this condition magically started happening over the last few years?
I think someone doesn't want to admit leftist ideology is what ruined this young boys life and if its legal, i got 20 bucks that says he doesn't make it past 14 and will commit suicide

 

I'm not sure that this fits into Munchausen syndrome by proxy because Munchausen symptoms are generally induced secretly. But whatever the reason, these parents are desperate for attention and praise, and they are psychopathic in the sense that the are willing to sacrifice their own child's well being for the self gratification that they are after.
