you argued 'money for the treasury' or something like that, and the article I linked to refuted it, and revealed that the lack of transparency with this administration opens us up to fraud and abuse.

And AGW is not the problem. The problem, as we keep telling you, is crappy forestry management. The eco loons have turned CAs forests into a damn tinderbox. Hell there are some counties where it's illegal to collect dead wood for your freaking wood stove or fire place.

Then you're not rebutting me, you're rebutting the article. Since that's a topic worthy of it's own thread, you ought do an OP on that subject, so we can properly debate it, as I'm not going to go down some rabbit hole with you which is off point to my conversation with @kriman

What gets left out so often by warmer alarmists in their "beginning of twentieth century" comparison is in that era we were just coming out of the LIA that ended roughly in the mid 1800s.
Also left out is "severe weather" of that era that is so often touted now as evidence of AGW. Here's some severe weather for you.

So you posted an article evidence of your position but now dismiss it as irrelevant? Okay and LOL

It is really climate change when you have folks from BLM et al setting the fires? I mean, perhaps we can agree that the political crazy that is embedded in BLMs is a change of political climate as that organization moves itself rapidly towards terrorism.

Terrorist goal is to show they are in control and the government can't protect you. That's exactly what these ongoing riots and quite possibly these arson fires are about.

I posted the article because there were aspects of it that supported my position with respect to my rebuttal to Kriman's comment, not to start a new thread on the entirety of the article, and that fact was clear if you had followed the conversation between Kriman and myself.

Perhaps those three things were listed in the wrong order.

First comes excessively high temperatures, which cause drought, which cause forested areas to become dry. More frequent big storms and hurricanes in the Pacific throwing weather fronts northerly allow for the hundreds of dry lightning strikes that started dozens of forest fires.

    Hope that helps.

Which would have not been nearly so wide spread and catastrophic had Ca. Forestry management not been a hodge podge horrible ideas and worse policy that prevented fire breaks, cleaning out dead wood, and prescribed burns.

I have no problem with the above but I disagree as to the supposed cause.
Keep in mind the desert Southwest including California is historically subject to long droughts and the prevailing theory for the demise of the Anasazi civilization is a hundred year drought.

Not at all. The only thing that results in a forest fire is the ignition - the lightning. The other factors have nothing to do with a forest fire being set. They, along with wind, do affect the severity of the fire.

The fact that all-time high temperature records are being broken all over the region figures in to the higher incidences of forest fires. And dozens if not hundreds of dry lightning strikes are far from normal.

I've lived in the southwest for all but 12 years of my life. I remember previous droughts and hot summers, water rashioning and temporary bans on watering yards and lawns. But what's happening now and in the prior 6 or 7 years is "normal Southwest weather" on steroids. There simply is no comparison. Current conditions are unprecedented.

I disagree. Lightning striking damp underbrush does not start a fire. Dry tinder is required.

The climate in the region is changing. See #116.

Yes. Lightning doesn't always start a fire. Around here it never does. But sometimes it ignites forest fires. Dry tinder does not.

Dry lightning has to strike something dry and flammable to ignite a fire. By "dry tinder," I'm talking about underbrush in the forest after several hot and dry years.

I know exactly what you are saying. Underbrush doesn't ignite forest fires. It is the fuel that the fire burns. Lightning and people do.
