    a. solidify the economy
    b. soft land the economy/prevent a recession
    c. reduce the severity of recession

    Thus, all of the above.

    1. Debate/approve the new NAFA?
    2. Debate/approve a well-designed and "paid-for" trillion dollar infrastructure plan?
    3. Increase the number of H1-B visas that allow highly skilled workers to come to this country?
    4. A bipartisan blanket amnesty would also increase the employment to population ratio/revenues.
    5. Increase some transfer payments?

    What else?

    6. Increase the Federal minimum wage?
    7. Significantly expand the student loan's forgiveness program(S)?

Govern in accordance with their oath of office? In accordance with the Constitution?

I want to come back to this later. In the interim, what would you do to stop businesses from hiring illegals and why would you think more visas are the answer? I don't understand your thinking. They don't need those. They can walk across, sign up for help, get a job under the table, and send the money home while becoming a citizen just puts a target on them.

Blanket amnesty? Well, there is no way to remove folks from our country, once they are here. It's a waste of money. You have to prevent them from seeing our country as a free whore to use and dump. My question is, what do you think would make them look at some other country before the US? That might be a better path.

Increasing some social program benefits might be needed in some areas. You have to be careful to not make it worth it to stay on them rather than get a job. You also need to concern yourself with those who get benefits and continue to work. Some do need the work to make ends meet. That's where you need to look.

It might well be worth it to pay folks benefits on a graduating scale that will allow them to pay for their living and supplement their income, rather than forcing them to go underground to make it. There will always be those who cheat the system. Let's try not to make it so easy. Let's help them without hurting ourselves.

I seriously doubt anyone in Congress has the stomach for that. They are all greedy and self-absorbed. They have no clue what the founding fathers intended. They are power hungry to a fault. They want the world in their hands. They believe they have the best possible information out there. Guess they aren't as smart as they thought. They can't do anything to make things better for our nation. They have no answers. They only have partisan attacks.

Q; What would you do to stop businesses from hiring illegals?

    A; In reference to "What actions Congress should take to a., b., and c." I'll rephrase your question; Would stopping businesses from hiring illegals solidify/boost the economy? I don't know as there are too many variables, such as;

    1. Would preventing businesses from hiring illegals increase job vacancies?
    2. Would the unemployed take their positions?
    3. Would a majority of businesses stay profitable without cheap labor?

Q; and why would you think more visas are the answer?

    Re; your last paragraph

The main reason I created this thread is because it seems Congress is too preoccupied with Muller's report, thus, putting the economy on the back burner so to speak.

They put everything except what will get them reelected on the back burner and have done so for years. They are interested in things which do not help the economy or make vital necessary changes to the poorly thought out laws they passed in previous years.

I don't know. I hate to say it's a waste of time trying.
