What Biden was thinking when he talked to the Pope

Some time ago there was a thread about Biden's conversation with Pope Francis. By the time I heard a clip I understood hat he was really thinking.
Biden became President in 2021, age 78, but he hoped to start in 2009.
Francis was elected in 2013, age 76, but he was already a Cardinal, therefore eligible to be elected in 2005.
What if those 2 men had gotten their jobs sooner?
In 16 years Francis might have had a huge impact on the Catholic Church and might be as famous as John Paul II by now.
If Biden had started in 2009 and there were no term limits he might be in his fourth term now. He would have broken FDR's record for longevity. He might have appointed 5 Supreme Court Justices. (I say might because Kennedy might not have retired yet.)
If Satchell Paige had been allowed to play in the white leagues as soon as he was ready, he might have won 300 games and would be regarded as the best pitcher of the 1930s (an era starved for great pitchers).

He struggled with what he was saying though.
He had to say Negro Leagues even though no one is ever supposed to say negro anymore. (It's hard to explain that you were using a capital N and the correct name for the organization.
Then he had to say Major Leagues because the American and National Leagues combined form Major League Baseball. That implies that the Negro Leagues were minor leagues. They were not. They certainly had better players and games than the official minor leagues because the best players didn't soon leave.
So he struggled on multiple fronts, though the message was clear.
Don't wait until a man is old to put him on top. Find a man who will be great for decades and give him decades to be great.

I'd just as soon see Biden having a conference with some voodoo Haitians as the Pope of Rome. When will we ever be rid of these silly religions?

drifter106 please be specific. Which past Popes are definitely worse than Francis? Please name one slightly worse and one slightly better he might yet overtake.
I know Catholics get sensitive about those things because all Popes are supposed to speak for God, therefore equal except for those known for notorious personal sins.
That of course is the reason to phase out the title. No Pope of the future can make a pronouncement that doesn't contradict one of his predecessors, so you don't need a Pope, just a CEO.

I did research. In 2003, when John Paul II started getting sick, I decided to read the biographies of all POpes and Antipopes (Encyclopedia Brittanica 1987 edition). It didn't make judgments, just mentioned crimes and controversies.

'm curious about how Biden first heard of Satchell Paige. Living in Delaware, the Biden family were, if anything, Washington Senators fans. So when Paige joined the Indians in 1948 they might have called that cheating. The Senators played honest: all white.

Biden must recall the end of Paige's career in the early 50s. He also might recall the day Paige pitched a couple innings in the 60s, indisputably older than any player ever.
    That's Biden's inspiration.

Unless he deeply repents and has a major experience with the Holy Spirit.....
which many people are having these past decades.

Even listening to near death expereincer Dr. Gloria Polo could begin his rising up to a whole new level of faith, courage and love.

Dennis I thank you for that, but I want to know what a Catholic thinks he can do that will make him a better Pope based on whatever ranking scale a Pope has.

I am interested in Roman Catholicism as you can tell by my blog that I wrote back in 2009.....
but it is difficult for me to submit to Pope Francis in a manner like a loyal high level official for Queen Elizabeth might be expected to do......... I feel guided by the Holy Spirit to a significant degree and I think that even Pope Francis can learn a lot about hearing the Holy Spirit more directly and clearly from all these people who have had near death experiences.

I feel that I must obey the Holy Spirit and Messiah Yeshua - Jesus as best as I can which can conflict even the judgments of Pope Francis.

I believe that Pope Francis needs to know how to get ready for the rising up of the Final Elijah and / or the latter day Cyrus and / or Moshiach ben Ephrayim as predicted in Isaiah chapters forty two to forty six...... which means that he should have a good answer to every aspect of Ecclesiasticus chapter forty eight.

Auditions for the role of Elijah needed....

When they no longer permeate our culture and history at the level they still do.

Keeping in mind that when there are no more Popes or Haitian Voodoo Priests, there will be new iterations taking their place. There's a bona fide need in all of us for 'deeper connection' to the natural world, and this has long been addressed by religions. Religion removes us momentarily from the works of man, and back to creation.

For those who don't find alternative ways of experiencing that deep connnection (via habits/lifestyles/communion with their 'spiritual' brothers, etc), ideologies are the most convenient pathway. If you've been raised without that need being addressed or met, you're going to fill it with something ideological .. it's just the way we're wired.

WE should not submit to anyone, only to the great principles behind them. The Pope has strayed from the Bible. Biden has strayed from the Constitution. So we can only tolerate them and hope for better.
