Jordon Peterson's "12 rules for life" , I knew these, but I had discount points to use and wanted to toss the guy a bone. What makes me laugh is how they've tried to drag him into politics when he's just a scientist (he's studied the material!)

Marmite is a pale imitation. Vegemite is food for superheroes. Just ask them.

    Thanks for the info.
As a lifetime lover of yeast extract I had no idea it wasn't a British food.
Our Australian cousins seem to be the only other people who eat it.

    As for Vegemite,
First of all there has to be some benefit to making Fosters and secondly after backpacking around Egypt for a month without any Marmite you have no idea how grateful I was to come across an Aussie with a stash of it.

Since you are clearly the most knowledgeable person I know on the subject of Marmite, why is it so hard to buy the mature version? I came across it once and tried it out of curiosity and really liked it but have never seen it again.

So as not to have a telling off from the free speech hating mods for straying from the topic, can you recommend a good book on the subject?

I think you mean this stuff
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Marmite-XO-Yeast-Extract-250g/dp/B004QJEJ1M was discontinued.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justus_von_Liebig considered the founder of organic chemistry also invented Marmite (At least the process) we both know what his true contribution to science was, it was Marmite ;)

Germans didn't like the taste oddly enough, they do have their own version now (1925) but it's totally crap. My friends in Berlin import their Marmite it's so bad.

My friend says it's like watered down dog poo mixed with 1/4 Marmite and the pissed in for good measure.

I'm trying to find a book on Qasem Soleimani...but nada... there's one book coming out next May. Best I could find was a 2013 article in the New Yorker.

Aso looking for Xi Jingping and there's plenty  haven't had time to syphon through the propaganda and those worth reading

...suggestions would be most welcome :)

Currently working my way through E.F. Schumacher's work. I read 'A Guide for the Perplexed' at the weekend and now on to 'Small is Beautiful'.

As an Agnostic I approached this book with a skeptical eye but Siedentop's polemic is not only novel but extremely convincing. The book is intriguing on both a historical and a philosophical level and I think it would appeal to anyone who is interested in exploring the roots of Western Individualism, Classical Liberalism and contemporary Libertarianism.

I bet it was a good book.

I'm a big fan of James Michener. One of the best books I've ever read is Michener's The Bridge at Andau:

"Searing and unforgettable" is definitely an accurate description of Michener's account of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 - some of the more brutal aspects of the uprising are permanently seared into my brain. Heartbreaking is another term I would use - to see the hopes and struggle of the Hungarian people so mercilessly crushed by the Soviets still evokes feelings of sympathy and outrage.

    Odd Arne Westad
The Cold War: A World History

I ordered this book online, which will be delivered today. The Cold War was real in my early childhood, when East Europeans were living behind the Iron Curtain. Nowadays, East Europeans are taking over the tennis world. The Cold War has not been won yet and Trump is finishing the job Reagan had started.

"Peoples' Republic" by Mike Schlitzer. The country has divided, the coast are blue and flyover country red. The hero forays into the blue to extract defectors. A good thesis on what would have happened to our country if HRC had won 2016

I read at least three books a week. I get my books for sale at the public libery. A whole bag full (about ten books for 2 dollars.

I am reading "Sniper Elite" by Scott McEwen. It's about a bunch of rogue commandos and one especially badass sniper who go into Afghanistan to rescue a special forces helicopter pilot who was captured by our enemies. The pilot was female and they made a video of her being anal sodimized by a taliban member and posted it on the internet.
Civilian powers wouldn't sanction a covert rescue mission so they went in to rescue her.

If you like "american sniper" you'll like this one.

    I love revenge stories. Splat.:salute::machinegun:
