Show me an example of that happening when both a white and black candidate were on the ballot.

In what universe? Perhaps in 2007 she did when pitted against the prospect of the very first black president. But in 2016 only 3% of blacks have said they absolutely would not consider supporting Hillary Clinton. 48% said they plan on supporting her. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/20/hillary-clinton-elizabeth-warren-poll_n_4305106.html

Not likely. Blacks are typically the most likely of the minority voters to turnout. And if Obama campaigned along side Hillary you can expect an upper 60% turnout.

Okay... starting to see the issue here. You have no idea what you're talking about. Hillary is the democrat flagship for the presidential race. She is leading all other contenders in the polls and she is beating every single republican hopeful by double digits. And you think they'll drop her. Yeah you have no idea what you're talking about.

If you vote for people based on how attractive they are you shouldn't be voting.

    - - - Updated - - -

That's the whole point. It happens when 2 white people are on the ballot. It would be confirming YOUR point if it was only happening when there was a white guy vs a black guy.

Obama won by greater margins than that small bump in turnout would have allowed.

"What can Team Hillary do to excite the youth and black vote in 2016?"

tell the voters they need to vote not only for her, but for a Congress that allows her to actually do the things she is running on

say don't allow what happen to Obama to happen for 8 more years, vote in a Congress that allows change to happen

say yes to 8 more Clinton years in the white house....

Are people no longer allowed to vote for whom they wish? If African Americans believe in the democratic party...what business is it of yours?

Cling to your hope and change, Tao.

Cling to the illusion of Hillary as the next great thing.

Cling to your notion that 'attractiveness' and 'sex appeal' are not a serious component of American politics anymore.

I do not vote based upon how sexy or attractive the candidate is.
Unfortunately, a voting majority of morons did exactly THAT in 2008 and 2012.

    Forget about black and white.
Concentrate instead upon the vapid, insincere, utterly-useless features that the CURRENT President has on display.

THAT is what either of your useless political Parties should pay attention to.
THAT is what appears to win elections in the modern era.

    It's sad, but it's true.
And it is what it is.
When a completely talentless, insincere, dishonest jackass like Barack Obama can win the US Presidency two times in a row, there is no hope for a candidate of reasonable qualifications, talents, care, integrity, and honesty.

The bar has been set that low.

Hillary will be flooded with requests to endorse her from the late night satarists, Main stream media, Hollywood and the music world. No democratic group will have to be energized.

I've been pretty neutral until now..but I can not take any more...Im chompping at the bit for the next GOP slap-down and am working now; mobilizing now.

If Hillary didn't matter. If Hillary is not a threat...the GOP would not be pushing so hard so early.

    That wasn't the point Bill.

The point was, many blacks vote by race first.

Hillary should dress herself up in an Evel Knievel outfit and shoot herself out of a cannon across the Grand Canyon onto a giant black phallic symbol called Jesse Jackson's Giant Prick.
After being harvested up by the Air Cav........she should then donate her $150 million dollar estate to Louis Farrakhan.

    Short of that......she's a non-starter.

I think the nation's youth have moved on to other things post-Obama and doubt if they'll be a factor in either party.

Blacks, on the other hand, might not be so eager to support Dems in future elections. Don't forget, losing one's health insurance and having your family thrown into chaos trying to find new doctors isn't just happening to white folks.

Hillary would be smart to campaign about FIXING O'care. Then she might be able to pull votes from disgruntled masses of Dems crying, "I voted for Barack Obama and all I got was this lousy $6,000 deductible!"

we here on the forum, whether leftists or common-sense folks at least are politically aware.

What appears to be lost on most is the tremendous marketing job done by Axelrod. He was able to get Hollywood, the media, teachers etc etc to hop on board, and get the most uninformed people to leave their homes and go out and vote for Obama. It was more than a presidential election to those who swung it for him, it was almost like anointing their messiah, or rock star.

Hillary needs a percentage of that uninformed population and that is the challenge. It would be the challenge for any Democrat this time, but Hillary is the Democrat nominee.

    Free marijuana?
    Welfare on demand?
    Taxes only for someone else?
Make all opposition illegal--and enforced by the IRS?
Promise to pay peoples mortgages, energy bills, and vacations?
Absolute total denial that Hillary Clinton ever had anything to do with, well, anything?
Announce every three minutes in the media that it's all George Bush's fault and she isn't George Bush?Hey, it worked for Barack Obama.

Of course, it looks like President Obama is going to try to through the south-of-the-border vote to the Cherokee.

    It doesn't seem that tough.

all kidding aside, if you're already on the taxpayer dole then promises of free stuff won't excite you as you already get it.

it's going to be a serious problem for Hillary and the Democrat party to get the uninformed voter out to the poll. Hillary needs to find a message which will resonate to them the same way "vote for the black guy" was motivation enough to get people to vote

Hillary won't run (she'll claim a health issue), but she will throw her support behind Elizabeth Warren. That will get the media, women, and the under-30 set crazy excited.

Obama's election in 2008 might have been legit based on the 'shiny & new' syndrome, but his re-election in 2012 was mired in voter irregularities, IRS targeting of conservative groups and downright LIES put forth at least 36 times by Barack Obama himself (if you like your current policy, you can keep your current policy).

Hillary might as well promise a free Hummer with every vote. Dem voters like being lied to.

no name recognition and Obama on the campaign trail won't do it. People know they won't be getting the messiah and won't go out to vote

let's see, a one term Senator who has been on the taxpayer payroll. Now where have we heard that before? And, she lied to get free stuff and a jump ahead of others.

Hillary is the only horse they have in the Democrat party

It's funny how the right wingers are so worried about who will vote for the Dems in 2016, while ignoring that once solid GOP voting blocs like Cubans and Asians are leaving the party in droves.

The GOP knows they could face extinction due to demographics, hence recent pandering we've seen by Rand Paul, Rubio (who then had to back track), etc.

A far more cogent and crucial question the Repubs should be asking themselves is, "What can the GOP do to attract the youth vote and the Black vote - and the Hispanic vote, and the Asian vote, and the Gay vote, and the non-Christian vote, and the non-Southern vote in 2016 and beyond?"

Even if they hold onto their shrinking base in the worst-educated states in the nation, that'll be nowhere near enough to compete nationally.

I already know what some of their voters will say to that, which is "offer more free stuff", because that's all those minorities want (in their eyes).

The biggest problem with that lame "free stuff" argument right wingers use every time there's a discussion about minority voters, is that 73% of Asians voted for Obama in 2012, and on average they use less welfare than whites. They single handily destroy that "all minorities who vote Dem want free stuff" talking point that's popular in right wing circles.

Supreme Court picks. Hammer it home like a drum. Blacks and Hispanic vote. Women vote. Only so many white racists out there to vote for the right wing.

The dittoheads are issued squawking points that they mindlessly parrot. Presumably, self-interest has been a constant factor in every election in the nation's history, yet they like to pretend that 47% of Americans suddenly discovered it.
