Russia, Russia, Russia. It's been a year now and I've heard all the accusations that the Russians attacked America by interfering with the elections. What exactly did they do? I haven't seen any evidence that they hacked voting machines, or changed the outcome. President Obama said the Russians didn't effect the outcome of the election. I've heard it said that 17 intelligence agencies confirmed that Russia "hacked" the election. I've also heard that was fake news, and only 3 said that. But still haven't seen evidence of a hack. Haven't seen evidence of collusion. Still haven't seen evidence that they effected the outcome one iota. I heard they bought ads on Google and Facebook? So what? Did anyone see those ads? Did it change a single mind?

Maybe this Russia hacked the election thread ought to be in the conspiracy theory forum?

Russia interfered with and influenced the very point of our election process by doing the one thing they can without direct and clear manipulation of systems. They managed to infiltrate the core of how elections work in a free society and have had the bonus effect of using this tool to sway the population at large and direct society...they are extremely good at this and the new digital media platforms have presented them with a new tool literally tailored for this type of propaganda.
As with any well done propaganda campaign the targets have no idea they are being played and actually assist in the process unknowingly, perpetuating and increasing the effectiveness. Those who recognize the game are generally powerless to stop it unless willing to disrupt the system anyway.

Apparently the Russians posted a few negative comments on some social media - like that would've made a difference to the presidential election result. wall: FFS Who are these idiots who keep harping on it day in and day out for a whole year? Have they no self-perception or self-respect? Or anything better to do?

You're a tool of the left for spreading B.S. propaganda like this. There is no way social media swayed the population at large. The MSM may have. Hillary Clinton is one corrupt politician and the MSM had the people convinced she should be and would be president of the United States.
This is pure horse ****. "They managed to infiltrate the core of how elections work in a free society"? Nobody changed their mind based on a post from a Russian bot on Facebook and if you believe that please, don't vote. Never vote again. If you believe that, you are too dumb to vote.

Most of the Russian "meddling" was aimed at low-information (politically unsophisticated) voters (who ended up voting for Trump).

The kind of people who would believe that Hillary was an Alien (if they read it on Facebook).

Well said, and in addition recently Donna Brazile revealed that the DNC KNEW that the Russians were actively inside their system servers reading pretty much whatever they wanted to read for the entire last month of the 2016 presidential contest and that Hillary -- who was in control of the DNC at that time -- and top DNC officials did absolutely nothing to stop them. So effectively the DNC HELPED the Russians hack their own system and then turned around after the fact and blamed it on both the Russians and Trump.

Well, there was nothing wrong with investigating it, and holding judgement until the investigation was concluded and a verdict or decision was reached. And, when it is finally over, perhaps this forum will do the right thing and move all such discussion to the Conspiracy section.

Yet there is something that begs to be learned from this ruse, and IMO, given insufficient evidence, indeed it is a ruse. So what can be learned from this circus? I feel like I am patronizing the good minds here by even asking such a question. So, what can be learned? Ok, since you asked...

This has been a lesson in what it would take to convince a segment of the population that something was true, when in fact it was not true. When something was not a fact, but one could convince many, many people, that the lie was a fact. And this could be pulled off, without one shred of hard evidence! All that so many americans needed, in order to believe a lie, a ruse, was simple repetition of the ruse, the lie, and getting cherry picked intel officers to agree, to get a congress to all say it is so, so it must be true, and to get MSM to parrot this, over and over and over. And if anyone demands the hard evidence to back up the assertions, well, you accuse them of working for Putin, or carrying russian water, for russia. Isn't this what we have witnessed, over and over?

And so, to date, not one shred of hard evidence has been shown to the People, and all we have seen or heard, is the never ending repetition of a lie, a ruse, which btw is a classic propaganda tactic, which obviously works but only on those who for whatever reason wants to believe in their anti trump fantasy. And of course it works on those people not intellectually astute enough to think evidence is needed in order to reach a valid conclusion.

And so, when this turns out to be evidence free, at least we will get some idea as to how well propaganda will work on americans. It is a good test IMO. And so next time, perhaps this group of people will not even think that evidence is needed. Just a waste of time to read it, for the gov't would never lie to the People. Never in a million years would they ever do that!

And of course, if you have kept up with what changes in law and policies could actually affect your existence as an american, you would know that Obama signed into law, in one of the Patriot Acts, that the gov't can now lie legally to the People, as propaganda, for that 1947 law, created and signed by a much more sane and non treasonous congress, was destroyed. Making it completely legal to lie and use propaganda on the american people. Consider the consequences of this change in law. For if you knew about it and understood it, there is no way in hell you would ever trust your gov't and their mouthpieces, MSM. I mean, for god's sake, here our gov't basically told the people that they can legally lie to you now! And what did the people say, how did they react? Well, given that MSM, the faux free press, never made an issue out of it, never spoke truth to power, most americans have no idea of what transpired! For they depended upon MSM to inform them of this very important and consequential change in law.

That with so many of us, we have not thought about this, nor considered it, proven by the nonstop acceptance of the one sided stories we get from our Ministry of Truth. That is, as long as the one sided story reaffirms our partisan bias, which was created by one sided stories and propaganda in the first place! This is so surreal as to make one think...no one could on their best fiction writing days, ever write something so surreal and ludicrous, in regards to such numbers of the american people. So again thanks, for providing the illustration of what great marks we are, and how easily fooled we can be.

I think H.G. Wells may have been a time traveler, and he traveled to our current era, in order to see where we ended up as a society, so he could write a novel of warning for humanity. Well, Wells also penned another great book about a time machine and time travel too. We should all take the time to read that novel again, written by what looks to be the most accurate modern prophet.

I thought the Russians hacked into the election systems in several states though a phishing scam, but were unable to change anything. This time!

I don't know how many deplorables and those who voted for Donald Trump get their news from Facebook let a loan even visit Facebook ?

But millennials, snow flakes, ANTIFA, Bernies wannabe socialist and liberals have a infatuation with Facebook bigly.

Who was really behind starting the "Resistance" and "NOT MY PRESIDENT" movement ?

    Not My President

This is one of the Russian Facebook ads intended to stir dissention in the U.S. (Photo: Facebook)

This fake ad helped draw thousands to a real world event in New York City's Union Square on Nov. 12 to protest Donald Trump's victory in the presidential election. Like most of the Facebook ads, this one targeted those aged 18-65, and those who had liked the BlackMattersUS page — now known to be fake — and friends of those who had.

Evidence seems to be that the left eats up fake news bigly...hook line and sinker.

Yes maybe a teacupful in the ocean of the electorate. But it didn't happen anyway so the question is moot.

Russian spending in the election of 2016 comprised 0.0002% of the total amount spent.

Since they hacked and released the Emails and did try to hack the actual voting systems and ran what were apparently thousands of phony stories on facebook all of which were aimed at electing Trump I think there is probably legitimate reasons for concern. Considering that Putin appears to be the only person in the universe ( slight exaggeration) that Trump can't bring himself to criticize their is some reason to question what is going on with the relationship.

of course you are correct, just look at how wrong the polls were. That was our msm trying to sway our election...not russia. I dont recall russia in my voting booth.
But hey remember when Obama tried to influence Israels election and no one on the left remembers this?

The manipulation of human tendencies to believe something already primed in a society. Basically using propaganda to guide a population into disruption and disarray. Through this Russia has managed to create a Chaos atmosphere and redirect our nation in such a way that they are no longer under scrutiny and free to do what they wish in the world...it's actually pretty brilliant and Putin is a master after years of KGB training.
