If "negotiations continue" the way the first meeting took place North Korea will have all they want as time goes on without giving up any of their nuclear arsenal. Negotiations mean each side gives up something, the US accomplished next to nothing in Singapore, if everything stayed the same, North Korea took us to the cleaners

 

it's been one day man, geez what did you expect Kim and Trump to go do some hookers, get matching tattoos and then declare world peace all in one day? It seems to me that anything less then Kim in a box and US troops in Pyongyang is the only thing you will except. But I say diplomacy takes time and this one will take longer then most if we want it to stick. It may fail it may succeed but give Trump some time.

 

My understanding is that they consider themselves to already be nuclear and have some number of missiles ready. I'm sure further testing could increase their capabilities and likeliness of hitting us harder, but it would be diminishing returns. They believe they can hit us, and they think we know it and consider the possibility to be too high of a cost to risk attempting regime change, and that's all that matters.

So in terms of denuclearization, the only thing that matters there is accounting for and eliminating the missiles they already have. This requires unrestricted inspections. That's really the key.

All that said, to be clear, I don't care about their denuclearization. I find it hypocritical of us to tell them to disarm while we are so well armed. And frankly, they shouldn't disarm. The next president may decide to undo everything Trump does. Trump has shown that America is unreliable, but isn't interested in getting nuked. So Un should string us along to try to get economic relief but hold on to his missiles because it's the only... Trump card he has.

Kim didn't make any promises, yet Trump gave up major concessions for the hope of future promises, it isn't someone saying "success wasn't really success," there was no success

You are totally missing the point, yes it has been one day, but North Korea in that one day got nearly everything they wanted and the US gave up nearly everything North Korea wanted, not a very successful first day

There was a commitment to ease sanctions along with a promise of US aid and investment, but the real give away was the legitimacy we gave the penny dictator plus the easement of US/South Korea military operations. And in return we got next to nothng, oh wait, another promise by North Korea that they will negotiate in good faith in future negotiations
