What, exactly, is socialism? Again this discussion seems necessary.

As I've already said, arbitration would be written into the contract. No state required.
There would be a requirement to abide by the contracts one makes. Failure to do so would go on a firm's credit report and they would suffer the consequences, which is to say they would be driven out of business because they are untrustworthy. They would be unable to secure insurance. The would be unable to secure credit. They would be dead in the water.

A credit report doesn't guarantee anything. The credit reporting companies and insurance companies could be bought off. No enforcement means chaos. Your theory is just that.

Did you hear me saying that there would be no enforcement? A company that fails to abide by its contractual obligations would be cut off by society and it would perish. That is the enforcement mechanism.

It wouldn't work! Did you hear me saying credit reporting companies and insurance companies could be bought off? And companies don't sign contracts to buy all their supplies. But let's say it could work as you suggest. How would it work out for workers? With minimal laws the work life and conditions of workers was intolerable in the early years of 1900 until labor laws were passed to force businesses to treat workers humanely. But you think businesses would treat each other fine while competing ruthlessly. LOL!!!

    What? Seriously?
So are we now agreeing that capitalism is possible without a state?

Not at all. If it were possible it would have been done. Oh and yes, seriously.

So what other functions are required by the state in order for capitalism to exist? We've already dispensed with contract enforcement. What else?

You and I are not trained in business law. So this is an empty debate, but we can look at it logically and see that a structuring force is necessary for any economy to function. The evidence for this is the fact that there is no country in which the state and other governmental powers have a "hands off" policy and just allow business to run as it will. In fact, it strikes me as absurd to think that capitalism doesn't rely on a state for it's relatively smooth operation. And my disinterest in "proving" my point doesn't mean otherwise. And we haven't even begun to discuss international trade relations.

You have proved nothing; I have proved nothing. I'm done wasting time on this.

Yes, you have wasted time defending your unfounded assertion that capitalism ABSOLUTELY requires a state.

You don't know that it doesn't, and cannot prove it doesn't. But logic says it does.

And these particular people who call themselves the state can do things that the rest of the people can't do? Like what, exactly?
