Allow me to clearly state that if YOU were to use these newly given rights on my wife, sister, mother or even a close friend...I would be "Using" my rights to eliminate your existence and thus any rights you once thought you had. From my perspective I agree that a living human exists prior to birth. While this removes one legal roadblock to a ban there are legal arguments from other angles. Without getting into these arguments ... I will say in general that once the "Living Human" status has been achieved there are good arguments that can be made for a ban after this point "sans immediate threat to the life of the mother".
What societal obligations do you speak of? government must be amoral in its application of the law so your religious/spiritual idea is irrelevant. What a preposterously silly argument - on many levels. 1) You start out "if" there is a God. OK ... so what if there is a God. How does this make a woman's body not her own ? Prove that God has claimed that the woman's body is not her own to do with what she pleases. 2) The Collective - her body belongs to the collective you say. What are we now "the Borg" ? While you may desire that our Gov't take control over every aspect of a persons body - or for some communist utopia - the principle on which this particular nation was founded was respect for individual liberty - that individual liberty is "above" the legitimate authority of Gov't. 3) Yes .. it is slavery - by definition. While there are lesser forms of indentured servitude - such as taxes, what you are talking about is full on slavery. Please do not ever run for political office.

Yes it has, because its true. It is now illegal to own a slave in this country and is legal to have an Abortion. Slavery is illegal because of human rights advancement, Abortion is legal for the same reason.
