I don't know specifically when the term conspiracy theory was coined to describe what it describes in the colloquial sense.

But what it seems to be used to reference is an idea that is either far-fetched or not supported and because certain people want to believe the idea so much they fabricate organizations systemic cultural biases and clandestine Cult like apparatus that makeup the reality that suggest these ideas are far-fetched.

Take for instance if I thought broccoli was bad for you and all the nutritionists and other forms of experts suggested no it's not and I decided that they were just covering it up because broccoli producers we're paying them the concept of the broccoli producers paying them to create faux science would be a conspiracy theory.

I've read/watched plenty of those sound analyses. None have been convincing.

Meantime, the perp had his weapon/s mounted on bipods, and 'swung' them to spray a larger area of the crowd below. Your bizarre leap to "the wall behind him" tells me you're brushing over this very plain explanation for the different sound effects heard.

PS: what is your theory on LV, since you seem to think there were multiple shooters?

So have probably half the crowd below on the night, but that's nowhere near the same thing as understanding the complex acoustics of the scene. Even police officers were initially baffled by the variations, but it didn't take them very long at all to understand that it was all coming from one location.

While I do not believe that we know the complete truth about 911, it is likely we don't know the truth about the JFK hit either. I think the JFK hit was a conspiracy. More than Oswald. And we will never know who the conspirators were.

But the boston bombing and the Vegas shooter? I think the official story is probably closer to the truth than the conspiracy theorists. Or conspiracy analysts. Conspiracies exist, but not every big event is a conspiracy. IMO of course.

I have no particular theory about LV, as to who did it or why.

All I know is the authorities have yet again told a story that is contradicted by known facts.

Adams' work simply puts science to the obvious fact that there were 2 rifles firing. I knew 2 different rifles were firing listening to the audio of the taxi driver that was waiting in his car at the hotel. The first rifle was closer to the taxi, the other rifle was further away. I've been shot at by rifles and know the difference between one near and one further away. I'm wondering if you have been so treated?

If those official stories are so close to the truth, why do so many known facts contradict that story?

But therein arises the problem. What facts? I watched videos right after the vegas event and there were lots of people saying things, so called facts that could not be verified. After awhile what could not be verified became beliefs and we know where that leads.

The problem is sorting the pearls from the manure, which is very hard to do, perhaps harder now than ever before. I generally apply Occam's Razor whenever this happens, because the conspiracy theory feeding frenzy which can go bonkers, fast.

You know, if all of these events like boston and vegas are actual conspiracies, it would take a powerful entity to pull them off, which intimates our own gov't being involved. Which would tell us our own gov't and the people who run it are conspiring against the american people, not by removing a president like JFK or a potential president like RFK, and civil rights leaders like, MLK, which is bad enough, but to literally create chaos for some motive....and I just cannot rationally believe this to be happening. The number of people needed would be just too large.

And it would take even more in the localities, local police, to be in on the conspiracy. I just do not believe that is possible. MSM would have to be in on it, for they would have to black out credible sources. So just too many americans would have to be involved before the conspiracy moved into the distant past.

One fact is the taxi driver audio clearly recorded 2 different rifles firing, one near, one far. Those supporting the confused official story say "Oh your ears were playing tricks on you because of echoes" or something like that. Adams' work corroborated that there were 2 rifles firing, hundreds of feet apart.

Another fact is the visual record of expended brass in the hotel room. It was grossly deficient for the claimed story. Even at a 1:1 ratio for round fired for victim hit, it was grossly deficient. Nobody could get 1:1 ratio in a situation like that.

Another fact is the blatant cover-up and secrecy by LVPD. The medical examiner's office was closed to the public for a week or 10 days. That says something. Not just unresponsive, but physically closed up. And more. A friend of mine lives there.

Boston, Vegas, Pulse, San Bernardino and so many more WERE conspiracies, in that 2 people planned to do it. The only problem is just who exactly the conspirators were.

Don't be afraid of the word, it has been weaponized for maximum propaganda effect. And FYI, humans DO conspire, frequently. It is common human behavior.

Again, it would require the local police to conspire with the FBI, with neither the local police or FBI ever leaking the truth. Such a long shot, IMO.

Conspiracies have existed and will continue to exist. But every event is not a conpiracy, at least not what the conspiracy people promote. That is my position and I think it is a rational position to take.

The FBI played a minimal role in the LV event, so I'm not trying to blame them. I am merely judging the details of the story.

But keep in mind that local and federal law enforcement officials cooperate (conspire?) all the time in drug related asset forfeiture cases. Low profile drug arrests go to the locals, larger ones are picked up by DEA or other federal agencies.

What is driving some of this is the deep distrust of our own gov't by more americans than one might think...and for damn good reasons. They lie to us, they operate in secrecy when the degree of the secrecy is there to CYA of burocrats and politicians.

    LOL

    Censored AGAIN.

Thus proving my point in stunningly ironic fashion.

Apparently, it makes no difference if you follow the rules here, your thread can be kicked into this or that subforum on a whim with no explanation or reasoning.

Why are people so terrified of having a frank and open discussion about "conspiracy theories" around here? Does this forum exist to promote robust discussion of politics or does it exist to reinforce the conventional wisdom that's been handed down to us by the government and the media?

Can this forum please give me a list of the acceptable topics that we're allowed to discuss without having our threads moved around arbitrarily and without the slightest explanation?

A Conspiracy theory is simply something the mass of sheeple do not agree with and think it is false and non-existant.

Two words can make a term. Conspiracy, and theory. Two simple and easily defined words combined make a term, using denotation.

CT is a term describing a theory about a conspiracy.

Using connotation, the term has become weaponized, perhaps best used by the dyslexic POTUS George Bush. At the UN not long after 911, George declared "Let us never tolerate outrageous conspiracy theories concerning the attacks of September 11; malicious lies that attempt to shift the blame away from the terrorists, themselves, away from the guilty."

It's funny how many have obeyed POTUS, even all these years later.

The Egyptians also believed that brothers and sisters could marry. Very nutty to me.

a taxi driver, inside a car (possibly a moving car), on one side of the shooters double sided position, thought he/she heard something that sounded like two rifles? seriously? you think that's persuasive?

No, the car was not moving. It was waiting for passengers at the hotel where the shooting took place. He was just talking to his cellphone, don't know why and don't care, and the first shots rang out. Shortly thereafter other shots rang out, and they were clearly from a different location than the first shots.

And you believe this taxi driver's highly subjective and limited exposure to the event, somehow trumps the army of experts involved in the investigation?

This is why people think Conspiracy Theorists are nutz.

What army of experts sir? LVPD was as busy as a cat covering _____ in trying to explain what happened.

The only expert forensic work I've seen was that done by Mike Adams, and his work clearly showed 2 weapons were fired.

    When you see a person standing in front of a corpse with a knife in his hand;

It is a conspiracy theory if you say he is a murderer.
It is following the clue if you say he may be a murderer.

Most of the time following the clues are falsely labeled as "conspiracy theory". We often see it while people questioning terror events. For example anyone who questions 9/11 is labeled as "conspiracy theorist". You are not wanted to question, you are wanted to obey what you are told.

Right. The entire investigation team knows less than a random taxi driver. That's not nutz at all, no sir.

Haha ... you mean some guy on youtube worked backwards from the desired premise that there were multiple shooters, and found the 'evidence' he wanted to find? Well that sure beats the formal investigation! A formal investigation which quite quickly ascertained that there was a single shooter.

You either go with the evidence, or you choose to believe fanciful theatrics which help you avoid the horrible reality that there are nutjobs out there who blow things up and/or shoot people for no apparent reason. Your need for a reason is the problem. It's a form of arrested development. Children need reasons. Adults know that life (and death) doesn't guarantee any.

This thread illustrates the very real problem of fact finding and due process, in the public discourse.

Some people, especially on the left, base their perception of 'facts' on if they 'feel' right, regardless of evidence. Or, simple accusation of an ideological enemy is enough, to condemn them.

Without a dedication to Truth, and an evidentiary based methodology of discovering that Truth, there is only feeling, propaganda, and agenda driven facts.

It is a tragic commentary on the soul of America, and Western Civilization, that the status of truth or lies has become a political football, driven by memes and situation ethics.

Truth, as objective reality, is despised, while half truths, lies, or innuendo is seized as a useful tool of persuasion.

Goebbels had it all figured out. Bernays too. Our government and media today follow their leads. We are thoroughly indoctrinated.
