Fifty some odd years ago there were no restrictions on long or short gun purchases. I could buy a gun through the mail from a department store that also sold furniture and have it delivered to my front door. That includes the famous AR15 which was FIRST introduced as a hunting rifle.(same gun but at that time under a different name) I could, and did, take that gun to high school, keep it in my locker, give a speech on it in English class, and walk home with it in a case without raising the hackles of the neighbor ladies. The $20,000 question is, what changed in those fifty years? Certainly not the guns, they were far more easy to obtain then or the ammo which I bought at my local gas station. So what is the root cause of today's violence? Drugs? Gangs? Al Gore inventing the internet? Video games? Freely dispensed opiates? Failure to report those who clearly have mental problems and failure of the authorities to follow up? (See Parkland shooter and the incompetence of Sheriff Israel) Given the leftie meme of more "common sense gun control" is bullshit, how do we actually correct the ongoing problem of people doing mass shootings?
