    Yes to Dutch. Guttural beyond belief of a European language.
    Even when the women speak it - it is amazing they can make such throaty sounds.

    From my "23&ME" report I am almost entirely German, Dutch Ashkenazi Jew and I will be the first to admit I think the German language is the "least pretty"

    Wish I could see a whole family tree, I can't find anyone in my line who is Jewish going back as far as I am able (about 1790)

    It might be that the Ashkenazi genome comes from several Ashkenazi hybrids in your lineage.
    Upon intermarrying, they would also probably pass as Christian.

    Dutch and Polish sounds disturbing to me. Currently I remember these two.

    and Spanish, Bosnian and Turkish sounds good to me.

    Many's the time my wife used to ask if I were constipated because of the prodigious amount of time I spent in the bathroom. It wasn't constipation, it was because I was playing computer chess ?? :mrgreen: We Brits have our peculiar morning habits doncha know?

    Why are we limited to only European languages?

    What seems funny to me is that a lot of other languages seem to have to use more words than we do to get the point across. And in Spanish, you put an adjective AFTER the noun that you are describing. Makes no logical sense at all. :D

    I wanted to keep the topic as narrow as possible, but in afterhand have realised it is a little too narrow. You are free to vote for non-European languages too. See this as an "Ugliest language"-thread. :)

    That, of course, depends to what language you compare English to. Germanic languages have the same structure, Romance language have the same etc. Finnish and Turkish (for example) are aglutinative languages which means they use suffixes instead of prespositions, pronouns and such, meaning one word can translate into an entire sentence in English.

    In Turkish the word cekoslovakyalilastiramadiklarimizdan misiniz? translates into "Are you one of those we could not turn into a Czechoslovak?" and the Finnish epäjärjestelmällistyttämättömyydellänsäkäänköhän? means "not even with their inability to unsystemise?" Both words are of course nonsense, but serves to show how the languages are structured. In other words, they are just theoretical constructions.

    Now that is what I call using few words. :D

    Imo, these languages are absolutely cancerous. Unlike your representation of German, which is humorously sarcastic for comedic effect, these are fair since they are of real people actually speaking the languages.;)

    Sure but those words are REALLY long. It probably takes you 5 minutes just to say that word! :confused: I can't even begin to pronounce those words!

    What about Japanese? Not a very pleasant sounding language. Even though a lot of people seem to find the French language romantic or whatever, I don't really like it much personally. Honestly, I just want to be able to understand the person I'm talking to. ;)

    I absolutely hate French and have never been a fan of East Asian languages.

    If you want to understand someone you should go and learn their language. :D

    I don't HATE French. I just don't think the language is all that romantic sounding. A little overrated if you ask me. :)

    Totes. It is too harsh to be considered romantic in my ears. The only language I see as "romantic" is Italian. My "hate" for French comes from bad experiences with teachers in high school.

    That was what I meant. :)
