There is no more "glorified" than there ever was ......and "mainstream" ? What does that mean?

EVERY generation thinks their generation was/is "special" or different.. ….it wasn't....humans have been humans forever....and looking back through rose colored glasses doesn't change a thing...

After we declared our independence the states grappled with Religious Freedom and having state religious establishments and taxing the citizens to fund them. There is a lot of interesting reading here, https://www.loc.gov/exhibits/religion/rel05.html , citing the original documents and debates which ultimately led to the states divorcing themselves from religious establishments and adopting the Jefferson
Act for Establishing Religious Freedom model, ie separation of church and state. And then of course the Supremacy Clause once the Constitution and BoR was passed.

The church and it's basic morality have been rejected so how can the State blame them for moral decay? Now that might be so if the church's teaching of morality has changed. Has it?

The abolitionist movement was led by the Quakers and it was a religious view that slavery was wrong.

I disagree, based on, for example, the writings of Thomas Jefferson.

I think the separation is so there will be no "state religion" and so government won't be telling people how they have to worship. It doesn't say we'll take God out of country. Pretty sure our founders never even conceived of atheists or the attempt to abolish God.

    I went with this option:

"No - It was only meant to prevent the state from interfering with the Church"

We are in a situation where spirituality in some form may be one important part of the only way to
    get Americans optimistic again.......
because pessimism could cause another Bear Market under these present circumstances with a worldwide
Derivatives market of seven hundred and ten trillion dollars.

Responding to a BEAR market vs a Bull market?

False dichotomy error. There's a lot of wiggle room between where we are now, with secular humanism the law of the land, and having a national church and forced tithing.

I relate to a little of what James Knapp had said. Consider the overthrow of 1910-1930 Christendom is, Fascism for Germany and Italy. Communism for Russia and Slav Poland or Orthodoxo Sphere. French Revolution. Spanish Civil War. And what did world war one and world war 2 get us? Surely over 200 million dead soldiers, civilian man, woman, children. Never ever seen before or possible.

Also, the first word of any of them Will be the word freedom, its a catch all, it won't lose its touch any sooner than 'democracy'. North Korean democracy. Cast that one-party vote.

Indentured Servitude as well as flogging were normal in Russian and American society, especially since they seemed to relate to each other. Did you read your 10 commandments in your actual Bible, and how do you choose to explain any Belief based on coveting a man's servants?

Lifelong marriage from the 1600's Anglican book of Common Prayer, to serve a husband and protect a wife, as long as the two shall live, let no man part what God has put together, Amen. So it was with Adam and Eve and Jesus Christ.

Queen Elizabeth I spoke 7 languages and sparked a war for literacy in the Church we could spin.

I doubt any handbook on odd burnings and executions are codified outside the Spanish inquisition.

So I named a huge list of oppressive regimes also an enemy to the freedom of God, most of them really.

Just keep an eye on Finland when in about 10 years the muslim population will top 50%. All those families that pooped out kids will be grown up, can vote and then that country will certainly wish they had a separation of church and state when Sharia law takes over.

That was the stated reason, yes. There was in fact no basis for the removal order in federal law.
Please, I understand that and the rest of the Constitution at least a million times better than you do.

Actually I'm pretty sure the case never made it that far; but regardless, I definitely know more about the establishment clause than anyone who thinks it can be applied against the states.

So many fallacies in a single post!

Germans were Christians under fascism and Italians were Catholics under Fascism. There was even an ALLIANCE between the Catholic church and those fascist regimes where the SMUGGLED out fascist WAR CRIMINALS and enabled them to escape to South America. The Germans embraced Positive Christianity as a justification for murdering the Jews. Stalin trained to be a priest in the Eastern Orthodox Christian church and Hitler was raised as a devout Catholic.
At that time BOTH nations were predominantly Christian.

Where in your bible is there Freedom of Religion?

Where in your bible is there Freedom of Speech?

Where in your bible is there Freedom of Choice to marry another consenting adult regardless of gender?

Where in your bible is there Freedom to Vote for your choice of elected leaders and representatives?
Did you know that the majority of Christians include this in their marriage Vows?

"For wherever you go, I will go, and wherever you live, I will live."

That is what Ruth said to her lover, Naomi in Ruth 1:16 and it is the BASIS for the rest of those Christian marriage vows that you are pretending only apply to heterosexual marriage.

Anecdotes are meaningless and she was trying to build the State Church of England against the entrenched Catholic church so her motivation was obviously selfish.
While conveniently ignoring the centuries of warmongering between the Catholics and the Protestants all over Europe that resulted in deaths that have never been properly and accurately documented.
    Nope!

You only named Communism and there is no such thing as the "freedom of God" since he is a sociopathic oppressor of individual freedoms.

You think that there is another time in recent memory where violence and sex were as glorified and mainstream as they are now? I have not said any generation is special and certainly not looking through rose tinted glasses. You are trying to put words into my mouth.

Each to their own my brother.
