Many people say that they should steer well clear of him, that he is toxic and will drag them down, others point out he still got 75 million votes and came within a whisker of being re-elected, without the influence of covid he almost certainly would have been. My own attitude is they should seek to embrace the grass roots movement he has created to their own advantage whilst presenting a less radical image to try to win back the mainstream voters, to repudiate him entirely is to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
I'm betting the GOP will drop him like a hot potato. It won't be too long before he stands a good chance of being a convicted felon in the state of New York.
The GOP is a pro-establishment party for globalism, controlled opposition to the democrat party's blatant support for globalism. With that in mind, they *should* do everything they can do undermine civic nationalism, individualism, American exceptionalism and Trumperism. Which is precisely what they have done, are doing, and will continue to do until conservative voters manage to unite, toss out the RINOs and take control of (or replace) it.
They will go which ever way the wind is blowing that day. They have their noses so far up his ass for fear Trump will turn on them and sick his supporters on them. I know politics is a sleazy business, but watching these pubs the last four years bending over anyway Trump told them too was sad to watch. You know the overwhelming majority of them can’t stand him, but as long as he has a Jim Jones hold on the base they will obey. Hopefully for the sake of the Republican Party and the country it will fade sooner than later.
If I were a republican politician, I would largely talk around him by talking about issues and the future. Any time someone mentioned Trump I would simply respond wit things, "Well you can ask President Trump about that. I am more focused on ..."
No party is likely to want to run a politician who has once been voted out of office. Trump only just beat Clinton and was beaten by Biden. He'd likely do even worse on a third run. On top of that, some of his supporters stormed the capitol, which is bad PR.
Trump didn't create the grassroots movement that swept Republicans to majorities in the House in 2010, the Senate in 2014 and finally Trump to the WH in 2016. The GOP can move on from Trump without abandoning that movement, even though Demokrats and the Left will try to scare them into doing so for their own sake.
I see what you are saying, keep grievance (real and imagined) front and center and they'll follow like the gullible, badly informed self identifying lot they are.
Hopefully, the Republicans can ditch the MAGA folk and the Dems can ignore "The Squad" and they can head back toward the center ... or better yet, we can form a new centrist party and marginalize the Hatfields and McCoys.
I went with "follow his example" but.... I don't mean in all ways..... he could be somewhat more diplomatic and the results could be good..... but he was facing something off the scale corrupt from 2015 until now.......... so..... his anger was to at least some degree fully justified. I think that the analysis of the big picture by this guy is far, far, far, far, far better than what is being said by anybody even at Fox..... Know thy enemy 13,785 views •Streamed live 23 hours ago
For the time being, until all the dust, smoke, and bullshit settles, they may be wise to simply treat him like any other former president. Good or bad, right or wrong, it's all 'water under the bridge' tomorrow at noon, Eastern Time....
They've shown NO ability for 4 years to treat him like any other president. They hate him and they also FEAR him and his supporters. If there is any way to put him in prison, they'll do it. Since they'll also be coming for the millions who supported him, I don't imagine we can assume anything about their boundaries. I predict a very, very rough few years ahead. These fools are demented enough to think they can actually punish 70 million of their fellow citizens. THAT is a true sign of mental illness.
That's nice, except that the MAGA crowd will be going nowhere and the Republicans will be going DOWN as a result of their cowardice and inbred nature. I predict that it will be the MAGA crowd that ditches the feckless Republicans.
You are welcome. BLM is the premier organization at "keep grievance (real and imagined) front and center."
Well considering the grievance is one that has been around for literally hundreds of years, keeping it front and center and in the faces of those that perpetuate the grievance is what its all about. Does it make you uncomfortable to have institutional racism thrown in your face? Oh wait of course there isn't any such thing and killing the odd unarmed black man is to be expected given how many more blacks commit violent crimes per capita. Its kinda like all those smart MAGAs trying to keep the Big Lie front and center, only in BLM's case they actually have one.
you know the old saw Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Trump runs again he's toast, but he'll never get there. He'll be spending a huge chunk of the rest of his life in court.
I fully acknowledge institutional racism. It is inevitable. The institutions were all built by White people and are built to function best with the talents and sensibilities of White people. Other races can participate to the extent that they posses similar talents and assimilate to similar sensabilties. any grievance will suffice.
