Hillary made the same mistake Gore did. She acted entitled to the Presidency and ran a prevent-defense campaign in which she only focused on left-leaning large urban areas. She overly relied on large-market negative ad buys.

    Your take?

After this election, I have concluded that predicting what other people will do is not my strong suit. Overall I think people voted for Trump because all they know is they don't like how the government is running, and so elected to try something different without really thinking it through. This is at least less superficial than that they like his smile or something, which is about the level of sophistication one can expect from the average voter. The conservative propaganda machine has also been very effective in making Clinton look worse than she really is. Putin and Assange were a great team as well. The only question now is how much damage this will do to America's prestige, power, safety, and freedom.

I think its much simpler. There was a huge enthusiasm gap between Hillary and Trump. People hated them both... However, Trump voters were much more enthusiastic about supporting Trump than Clinton voters were enthusiastic about supporting her. That affects turnout.

We went for the establishment candidate in an anti-establishment time and we chose a candidate that the American people never liked or felt as ease with. But I thought that we'd beat Trump. Every tactical choice Clinton made was conventional, calculated and safe, consistent with her nature and her army of experts.. It was also consistent with the nature of Bush, Perry, Rubio, Kasich and their experts....and they lost too.

This was a repudiation of arrogance not just hers or the party's or the entire political class, but ours.

How can most every incumbent be re-elected if America is being anti-Establishment?

My take? Hubris cost them. Just look at all of the "Madame President" threads here.

Because there are not anti-establishment candidates running against them with name familiarity, free media every day, and money. Most of them do not have the sense to join one of the two partys to exploit the pre-existing structure and get included in the debates. They are calling themselves everything but a Dem or Pub.

If they had only listened to me back in july and ran sanders instead of al capones cankled sister they might have won.
In a nutshell....the democrats lost the election, the house and senate for the sum of a lakehouse in Vermont, their race cards, hatred of police and thinking their votes counted more than uneducated people.
AMERICA just stuck its boot up obamas ass up to Hillarys teeth and rightfully so. Everything Obama has done will be undone.
    Nighty nite democrats.

The "We will only selectively campaign in person in democratic strongholds and turn out the base" is part of the hubris.

Dems have an easy choice-listen to the concern of working class whites or lose.

Note that this choice is really hard for dems.

    They supported a gangster-never forget.

I would say the DNC abandoned the white middle working class and became too corrupt which led to becoming a banana republic political party.

Clinton lost because she took the base for granted and never even made a token attempt at courting the rust belt outside of Ohio and PA.

The democrats used to be known as a party for the "working people" but not in this election. They showed their absolute disdain for the middle class by totally abandoning traditional democratic party values in lieu of backing a corporate puppet. They alienated liberals and progressives by marginalizing them.

Personally, I am pretty uneducated on why people voted against Hillary and can only speak for myself but I will say its because of the insane political correctness and WikiLeaks revelations. I mean it was just too much.

Not exactly. They have been too selective in which working class jobs they promote at the expense of all others. Anyway, don't be surprised to see President-Elect Trump move to the center-left, including supporting minimum wage increase.

For me, it was Benghazi. Using those coffins for a photo-op; lying about the cause of the incident; attacking the families; and then acting with contempt that she should even have to discuss it with the Congress or the public. Policy-wise, I was more closely aligned with her by a mile, but she is such a sketchy person, I could never vote for her. I voted for Stein though.

I agree even her final campaign was star studded with celebrities and even the incumbent president and other democrats rallied behind him, somehow making it appear like a mask of that issue that she should face and address in the first place. The mail scandal did made quite a death blow with her candidacy, she suppose should win the presidential race if she did convincingly defended herself against the issue, but the real question is, how?

Exactly. Her personal character was really bad. I feel the same way you do. But I do have to say she gained some respect from me for conceding the election to Trump. I didn't think shed do that.

According to John Podesta, dems want advantageous demographics so they don't have to listen to normal white people.

And by "concerns" you mean hatred of mexicans and muslims and a futile fight against globalism that will only shoot our economy in the foot... and crying about Obama's deficit spending only to elect the candidate who will continue that tradition. America failed by electing Trump. Americans elected Trump because they are too stupid to know that change isn't always a positive word.

Then they will lose. They wanted to make it tribal. Hope they get it.

No I dont, and this is why you will lose. Its your attitude, mr. Thats the problem, and when you point your finger at someone else, 3 are pointing right back at you.

Obama did virtually nothing he campaigned on, and yet you some how take Trump literally on every thing he says. Kind of a double-standard.
