So is it 2 weeks no deal Brexit because of today's defeat, or, there will be no Brexit if not Theresa May's deal, and what's all this about voting in the EU elections?

Article 50 will be revoked, probably "temporarily". I can't see really see any other option.

No deal is the default so we will probably go for a long delay to avoid No Deal - as no deal has happened and the EU will only agree now to a long delay with suggestions of what we can do to change the situation. If we have a delay past the time of the EU elections, which unless we go for No Deal we will, then as we will still be part of the EU we will need to vote people in. This is something hard no dealers get very upset about. There will probably be a general election as a way of getting people's position as May has been unable to find a resolution.

IMO, the PM failed because she listened to the EU which couldn't be avoided however, I just wish I could remind people the EU is an economic basket case that isn't the world.
The EU is on the decline against China and other competitors anyway that it's going mad with rules and regulations.
I'm not a fan of PRC Chinese Sweatshops and local labour laws, but, the EU can't compete without tariffs.

If we leave ourselevs at the mercy of the US in a US / UK trade deal, would it be worse than being at the mercy of the EU?
Why not give America a stronger voice in this part of the world?

The DUP voted for Brexit because they thought it would keep the Union together, It is now thinking possibly it may do the opposite and is possibly moving to remain.

The PM failed because her deal was bloody awful. The EU is certainly not an economic basket case.

The EU can offer better competition than the UK.

    No, thanks.

Another glorious day for the British Empire!

And nobody knows what will happen in 10 days from now. Anything is still possible.

The Brexiteers would prefer to be a vassal of the US (with Trump at the helm!) rather that 1 of the 3 most important members of the EU.

    Go figure...

It is called the British National Anthem but England uses it as the English National anthem for football matches which it most certainly is as you can see from the last verse.
    https://www.lyricsfreak.com/u/uks+national+anthem/god+save+the+queen_20983467.html

I also suspect it has many different versions. The one I remember hearing in my childhood was asking about been saved from the knavish Scots.

This article says it may date back to the 17th C which would make sense as Scotland was sold by its Parliamentarians to the Union in 1707 so they would be unlikely to create one with warnings about Scotland after that.

    Uncertainty.
That is the latest with Brexit.
Nobody knows what's going to happen.
It seems the country knows as much as me.
The people I see on domestic UK news (Sky News) being interviewed on the street in Gloucester somewhere that voted to leave, all recorded today in saying 'I don't know what's going to happen'... John Bolton of the US is waiting for the UK to crash out of the EU and into a new trade deal with the US saying 'we're ready' on Sky News just now.

Well it no doubt depends on your politics. If you are wanting hormones in your meat and not to be told about that, if you are wanting another country to take your details and sell them to other countries, if you are wanting the rights to information you have now taken away, if you are wanting to just say 'yes sir' to another country, sure vote to exit and do what the US tells you.

Obviously the UK leaving the EU means that Germany will be more powerful. In the EU the UK was one of the top three, Germany, France and us, outside of the EU we will just be the US's puppet...although we will no doubt do lots of the things secretly on the side, as Curtis points out, we may appear to be a democracy
    https://www.middleeasteye.net/opini...licy-middle-east-secret-history-self-interest

What is it the tories are wanting the UK to be outside of the EU? Some sort of money laundering business if I remember correctly. A US/Tory government will not be good for the people of the UK. Not how the US is going now. The Middle class in both will soon be gone. and yes, Europe is not much better...at the moment. It does though have DiEM 25 working to change it and make it into a social democracy. Probably be that or far right ethnic Nationalism or a bit of both for the future. Our economy has to be one of the most important things and that is, like it or not, going to go best with the EU We could do that inside the EU or outside the EU in a system similar to the EEA. I do not mind which it is, Sometimes I think I would prefer out. The difference out is that the UK will lose her voice and by that her position in the world and that we will need to pay possibly more for what we get though we will have no voice.

I might be wrong but I think not too many people are interested in the chlorinated chicken, the hormone beef, the refusal to tell us, the taking away of our right to information and the taking away of our privacy by allowing details of us to be given or sold to others without our permission.

and of course the hard Brexit you are now after will mean the end of the Union with both Scotland and N.Ireland leaving. That is why the DUP is moving to remain. Just England, even weaker on the world stage and Scotland will not house your nukes.

Nothing wrong with independence from the EU and having closer ties to the US.
In my book, the UK would be leaving a USSR type scenario called the EU that's crashing anyway.

According to the BBC, Europe is divided over whether it would agree to another delay particularly as this is costing them too. France in particular is apparently saying it would be better just to go for a no deal and get it over with. I am wondering will we take back Article 50 and stay if they did decide to leave us with No Deal. I don't know which way it would go.

You have no idea with whom you would be dealing on your own. The US will make you into a 3 class vasal. First class and second class are Canada and Mexico, its largest trading partners and next door neighbors.
How about keeping tariffs on your trading partners, even after signing a revamped trade deal ?

Trust Bolton and the Idiot in Chief ?
    Insane.
What political influence would you have, none at all. The US decides and the UK jumps. Can the US replace the EU with trade, absolutely not.
Look at who is ruling the US market and trade, its next door neighbors and China.
Yes your NHS would be in trouble, because US big pharma would love to get into the market, with US prices.
Do you know what that means, your prescription drugs would become 5 to 10 times more expensive.
I can get the same medication in Europe, through my EU regulated Health Insurance, for a quarter what it would cost me in the US.
The Idiot in Chief was bitching about it, when he targeted the EU.

Germany hostile towards the US, where did you get that one from.
The EU hostile, where did you get that one from.
Germany controlling the EU, where did you get that one from. Would be good, but it is not what's happening.

    Wrong on all counts.

In the EU each country has a single vote, no matter how big or small, that vote can be a Veto. All have to agree, one decent and what ever, is of the charts.

With the US you have no vote, no veto, it is the bully on the block, who decides, what is right and wrong.
That depends on the attitude of the person in the White House, who has all the power to do so.

    Good luck with that.

Wrong mon ami, votes and policy aren't a factor and it's a trade deal, not a bloc, and besides, the UK's the 5th largest economy in the world and, I believe was a contributor to the EU (if it crashes out).
Entering into a bilateral deal with the US doesn't mean anything but closer relations buying American.
    Making way for American.

What do you think we've been doing with the EU? Let's just do it with a more like minded freedom loving people.

It'll be one sided and we can buy American, give America a customer in this part of the world, and I'm thinking that's the lesser of two evils.
IDK who we'd sell to, depends if people want to buy British on WTO.

How crazy is it for a Trans Atlantic trade deal?

I think votes on policy such as immigration shouldn't matter, so votes aren't a thing I think should be in any bilateral deals.
    (What if Canada want in)?

Okay, according to the news, as things stand, the UK'll crash out in 14 days time without a deal.

    I'm hoping for this.

US have already said they're prepared for a deal with the UK if the UK crash out of the EU, I do not want any elections or referendums.

    Not a chance

You mean the US have already said they want to exploit the UK.

You're going to get one or both of those alternatives. There's no other solution.

The suggestion in the guardian is that she is going to try yet another time at her deal given that she is losing by less each time. Talk about people being blackmailed to vote in a particular way in a democracy. I trust MP's are aware that if they back her they are backing nothing. She then resigns and it leaves the space for Rees Mogg or someone else to get in and take us out on a hard Brexit. Now to get that after needing 4 votes would be a bit rich when they are not allowing a public vote now the British people are aware of the lies which they voted on the first time. That alone I think illustrates the propaganda with which the elite Brexiters who have already moved their money out of the country use.
