I guess if you’re viewing women as machines or objects of art, who only exist for you to admire them from a distance, I could see why you might have an issue.
They can be removed with laser surgery. A friend of mine had one removed. - - - Updated - - - People aren't allowed to give their opinions on such matters? Of course they are. Besides that, how do you know that any of these men are disgusting, old, perverted, and disgusting looking? That's a bit harsh. I'm guessing your wife has tattoos.
Hardly the point. We all make statements about ourselves- our personality, values, judgment, by what we do, and side people read this. Tattoos are often seen as evidence of low self-esteem, bad judgement, lack of morality and sexual advertising. Same for the guy driving a classic Ferrari that has cheap trash on it- you realize he does not understand or appreciate what it is. If you look trashy, you attract a different kind of person that you do when you show some class and self-confidence. You advertise your value- or lack of it. Tattoos are a fad that comes and goes, like clothing styoles. Unfortunately, the tattoos stay, and make the same statement indefinitely.
Ah, but there is a catch. The fat person can diet and return to normal body shape, the smoker/drinker can quit and clean up. The tattoo stays indefinitely- even surgically removing it leaves scarring, not to mention costing vastly more than the tattoo did. We do have enough natural plagues, it seems foolish to give yourself another that is both a poor personal choice and an advertisement of your judgment- that will remain long after you realize that and regret the choice.
I know they’re often seen as representing those negative characteristics but in reality they often don’t. All sorts of vast different people get tattoos for all sorts of vastly different reasons. I think judging millions of people on a singular characteristic is a much greater demonstration of trash that someone having a tattoo.
That's the one at the base of the spine, which is to give you something to occupy your mind when you're (*)(*)(*)(*)ing them. "bumper sticker on a Ferrari," great line
Having yourself tattooed IS making a statement, it is saying something about one's self- just usually that includes some things that the individual didn't intend, either didn't think about or care about when they had it done. It may be a personal statement, but if it's not in a private location, it's a public one, and that is an invitation to public judgment. Such a person should not be surprised that some find it very negative. You- all of us- make judgments every day, about hundreds of things. If we didn't we wouldn't live long. What is safe, what is real, who is trustworthy, who is wise, who is dangerous- all of these are judgments, and we make them about everybody... unless we are morons. Judgment is the compass we use to navigate through life, it is a necessity. Being able to read the signs- be it a sign on a post, or one on a body, is how we choose our course. Those who lack judgment or think it is somehow unjust will have a load of crap on their plate, everyday. When you make a choice, you buy what goes with it.
I suppose not - but you still usually end up sore and exhausted. And it smells like victory - or napalm - or something like that.
Sure, we all make subconscious judgements but those judgements are often flawed which is why we need to be aware of them and willing to make conscious adjustments to them. Your assumption that anyone (any woman at least) with a tattoo has low self-esteem, bad judgement, no morals and is sexually advertising is flawed. It’s no better than assuming all blacks are thugs, all Muslims are terrorists or all Christians are homophobes.
Is this thread suppose to be humorous... lol yikes I usually have a dual reaction to someone tatted up. What great work their artist did and the next second...yuk what are they thinking with all that ink!! There are some smaller ones that are very tasteful and well thought out. => I have a hunch many will regret covering half their skin but who knows. I do know I'm a huge advocate of live and let live and myob. Maybe we should expand on the label "trashy". Is this thread desperate and trashy? (and no a genuine opinion isn't) but the spirit of this thread might be...why is it in the humor section? May I suggest a mirror for some here...THEN decide what you should be calling others. ...just my 2 cents
However, black people did not chose to be black, that is natural. Most muslims did not chose to be muslim either- generally they were born into it and programmed from birth. Tattoos are a choice, and therefore- a intentional personal expression. Nobody's judgment is always correct, nor necessarily fair- but this is not an issue of unjust discrimination. Just as an individual may chose to have a tattoo on their body and think it's meaningful (at least at the moment), others may see that tattoo and see it's meaning as something else entirely. Those choosing to get tattoos invariably are aware that it will be seen negatively by some but won't consider that or just don't care- and so shouldn't be offended when it proves to be true. We don't prevent people from getting tattoos; and we don't force others to approve of their choices. You can call it art, but others will see permanent graffiti... that the person intentionally placed on the only body they will ever own. . That choice will invariably reflect on the perception of the persons judgment, self-esteem and values. Politically correct or not, it is invariably true. Judgment is based on impression first- later on experience, IF the situation gets past the first impression. As the saying goes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. If you apply for a professional position and appear for the interview looking unprofessional- you have lost the job before the interview starts. It applies socially as well, it will turn some people off, or send a poor message. The effect of tattoos in these situations varys widely with the location and nature of them. We all limit our own opportunities, by the way we chose to present ourselves. Good judgment is wisdom, but not perfection. As a businessman of long experience, I can say that you don't hire a person with horse flies tattooed on their neck and a ring in their nose to interact with your customers. (Saw that in person a few months ago- on a waitress, at a place I won't stop at again.) In fact you may not want to put them anywhere, as it tends to be disruptive to the teamwork and impression you want your business to have. This is no different than a person who chooses to dress or behave inappropriately, except that it can't be left at home- and it will affect your business just as much. Blindness is not a correction for judgment- it's the opposite, you abandon rational judgment thinking that somehow it's more righteous. I don't punish people who embrace the fad of tattoos- but neither do I ignore the message they send about themselves, nor bend my thinking to see it their way. Fads come and go- bell-bottom jeans, purple hair and so on. The key word that matter in that phrase is "Go", meaning they are temporary conditions, you can get rid of them when they are inappropriate or out of style. Not understanding that... bad judgement. Just my personal opinion, of course....
It's thick everywhere. You just have to grin and bare it. Especially if it is a beauty - a "real Mexican beauty" - easier after a few Margaritas.
