Resistance to Trump Mulls Options After Bruising Defeat 'Bill Maher, the comedian and political commentator, argues that there is a “marked difference” between the reactions in 2016 and 2024. “2016 Trump won and there was 3 million people in the streets,” he said on his HBO talkshow. “Remember the p***y hats and all that? I mean, it was the biggest demonstration ever. This year: nothing. What is this, resignation?”' Yeah, what's up with that? Where are the claims that he was installed by Putin? Why is the blizzard of lies and hate that the Left hurled after losing 2016? 'This time it was just overwhelmingly people voted for him and that’s where we are. This is what you voted for: how much else can we fight it?”' Please read the whole thing and discuss.
Or, could it be that the MAGA predictions that the Dem voters would be violent if they lost the election were just more RW B$?
Anyone who actually does read the article will have a much better idea of the reality that your partisan take. It quotes a range of people directly involved who explain their feelings and intentions quite clearly. The fact that doesn't align with your simplistic expectations says much more about you than it does them. And though, as explained in the article, there isn't likely to be anything like the same outpouring of protest, it is still more than a little ironic (and arguable misleading) to take an event that was held in January 2017 and point out the lack or an equivalent event this time.
I’m waiting January 20, Inauguration Day, for the far left crazies to hit the streets and start burning and looting, like they did during the summer of 2020.
will MAGA attack the capital in 2025 I mean, how could Trump get 14 million more votes than in 2016, stop the steal right, lol should the VP pick the winner on Jan 6th? is the right finally gonna admit the VP can't pick the winner, that Jan 6th is just a formality and a Constitutional duty of the VP
Well they did riot all over DC and other areas of the country on his inauguration day and that hasn't happened yet so we shall see.
So far, yes. And in another surprise, you have Trump announcing policies and national leaders coming to M-A-L to discuss and no one is shouting THE LOGAN ACT!
From the article it’s pretty clear there haven’t been big protests because big protest organizers haven’t organized big protests due to the fact organizers that organize big protests realized big protests with ***** hats aren’t particularly effective. On a more serious note, I was saddened there are people who neglected their families over this. That sucks. I suspect the 5 stages of grieving loss are at play as well. Many have probably moved through the anger phase into depression and acceptance. Since it’s been about 16 years that would make sense. I hope the depression can be dealt with. It’s not worth dying over. But the one activist said they have been fighting to keep Trump out of office their whole “career” of a decade or so. I can see this result causing some depression for that demographic. When I work all year for a crop that gets hailed to nothing it’s depressing. Seeing ten years of work obliterated would be tough. Really tough. As I said, it’s not worth dying over. Take a breath. Be thankful for what you have. Spend time with your family. Probably better for your health than putting on a ***** hat and screaming.
This is how bad it's gotten with the left. And they wonder why they're laughed at and not taken seriously. These women are getting sterilized — and blaming Trump for their decision: ‘Election tied my hands’ These women are getting elective surgical procedures to render themselves infertile — all because Donald Trump won the election. The women, who are speaking proudly about their decision, say it’s because they fear a reproductive rights crackdown under a second Trump administration. Newsweek recently spoke to multiple women who said they were turning to invasive, irreversible medical procedures to ensure their reproductive freedom remains untrodden upon. .................................... “Well when you pass laws that murder women on a regular basis, what are you going to do?” one Reddit user wrote without elaboration. ..................................... “Sounds like they need lobotomies instead,” quipped another. https://nypost.com/2024/12/01/us-news/women-blame-trumps-election-for-decision-to-get-sterilized/

Protests are planned in DC for 18 January. https://www.axios.com/local/washington-dc/2024/11/08/womens-march-protest-dc-trump-2024
The 'Progressives' are a bit quieter possibly for two reasons I can think of 1/ The vote was pretty much incontestable: "This is what you voted for: how much else can we fight it?” 2/ The Democrats screwed up so badly in their 4 years they really can't complain.
In 2016 the alternative was one the far out crowd could believe in, by shutting down most of their brain, and Trump was untested so the far outs could imagine whatever they wanted. Now Trump and his cohorts are all known tested people so it will not be as easy to freak out, and though Trump is pro Israel, so is everyone else in Washington. And Trump might let in a few neocons, and that is bad, but Biden was run by neocons so that was worse. We have to make the good better.
